hi pete,
i had the same problem on my 405's pump after I changed the engine. Didnt notice it until it was in...
I dont know how bad yours is, but if you remove the 10mm nut on the throttle spindle and turn it back a bit with a flat blade screwdriver, then tighten it up again you should be able to tighten it down enough to stop the leak without a seal. Its tricky though as if you go too far you will hear the idle raise and you will have to start again.
mines been cool for over 15000 miles now though and it was really squirting out!
In fact from memory, the lucas guy told me it was a non repaceable bush, and that it was wear on the spindle itself, hence why i tried so hard!
Cheers

Hi,
For the bosch pump. Take off the locknut so you can move the arm seperately of the spindle (the rod sticking out of the top of the pump with the screwdriven top). So that the splines are not contacting, you dont have to remove it completely. Then turn the spindle back a bit with a flat blade screwdriver. You will notice the idle has dropped. Then put the arm back on and tighten up the 10mm nut. It will pull up the spindle tighter against the seal, but make sure you dont let it turn too far or you will raise the idle. It may take a few attempts to get it spot on.

Yes I got it from a local diesel specialist for about £7 at the time, the kit was a bush, a new spindle and an o ring, remove pump top, drift out old bush drift in new one, refit with new spindle and o ring and no diesel fuel dribbling down the front of the engine, good luck sourcing the parts.
