xantia rear discs

Post by mpr1956 »

Hi, has anyone replaced theirs recently? I want to replace mine but when I had a (half hearted) try at removing them while doing my swing arm bearings they were reluctant to even move so I left well alone at the time. Does anyone here have any removal tips please? ( The HBOL suggests that once the screw is removed they should almost fall off of the hub ) I have a 93 td sx.

Both mine just fell off after I removed the screws - despite the exceesive corrosion on and around the calipers.... The normal procedure is to remove the screws, then apply a hammer gently, then some heat, then some more hammer, then some more heat, then some more hammer, then if that fails, break out the angle grinder!

Have you got what looks like one securing screw and the wheel locating stud opposite? If so the stud unscrews.

aha! I hadn't thought of that... I'll try unscrewing that stud first.. then work up to the heat and mighty blows with the hammer (and hopefully avoid the tears of rage!)
