Rain sensors - always enabled, but again controllable from he wiper switch - auto for auto or manual for manual. Useful? Yes, especially if you hate having wipers working unnecessarily.

Alloys getting stuck to the hubs? Don't know what made you think of that - never heard of that one before - besides now you have a C5, you'll probably be having plenty of opportunities to take the wheels off and on when your changing your tyres - which you might find yourself doing a little more often now. :-D
I suppose I'll have to make sure they are all set to manual for MOT's?

Well as the wrong type of bolts were put on it's no surprise really - but still relatively unheard of under normal circumstances.

It is well known and has been often posted on the Forum that C5s eat front tyres. Keep your speed down and check pressures regularly as normal and you be fine - but remember there is a lot of weight on the front end and the C5 is heavier than your previous Xantia Nigel

Marc,

yes I did notice on the test drive that the nose was much heavier
I think this serves to aid a better ride on the C5 the Xantia suspension is always better
with a couple of bags of ballast in the boot and the rear end has less of a tendency to step out to.

whilst we are on tyre pressures can I have the tyre pressure warning system, switched off?
it is a car built before 2012 so it wouldn't be illegal to do so for the MOT man.

Personally, I think it is a great system and has alerted me to low pressures and a punctured tyre on several occasions - which could of been dangerous on a few of those long journeys where it happened, allowing me to take corrective action.
To answer your question though I'm sure it is a possibility, although I can't condone it.

As Mark says, autolights and rain sensors work just fine - it is very seldom I find the need to use manual, mainly in drizzle or fog where the sensor sees sufficient light to not turn on the lights.
Never had a wheel stick on either C5. Rarely had one stick at all but a mate's Cortina they were always stuck and needed a mash hammer from behind to shift them, and my daughters almost new SAAB 93 - SIL destroyed the wheel getting it off.
Younger daughter never had a problem with either of her SAABs - or any of her other cars, all with alloys on.

I've had many occurrences of alloys sticking to hubs on various cars, including MK1 C5s.

Simply loosen the bolts, drop the onto it's wheels again and roll it back a yard and stamp on the brakes. Usually breaks the "seal".

No. As long as they come on when the tester switches them on, which they will as the switch always overrides auto control, it'll be fine.

Yes you can turn it off if you ask a friendly person with diagbox to do it. It's a simple task. I did it on two of my Citroens. If it works, leave it well alone. If it's troublesome like mine was, turn it off.

I turned the TPMS system off on my Mk1 C5 because one sensor was throwing up the warning. Be warned that it is not trivial to turn it back on again though as the TPMS valves have to be re-paired to the car using an extra device called an exciter - on the Mk1 at least, I think it's similar on the Mk2 and X7 though.

I also disabled the auto rain system on the Mk1 as it was slow to respond when rain started and slow to stop when the rain finished. I haven't disabled it on the X7 as it's possible to turn it off using the wiper switch. I'm not overly impressed by it though.

The auto lights are good though!

Comes standard with main dealer servicing for lease cars, as they look through the wheels to check the brakes. The wheels only come off if they have managed to upsell you pads. Rust and corrosion can be finest bonding agent known to man at times.

:Firstly apologies to Marc. I certainly didn't expect so many people to reply about stuck wheels. And Lexi Thank you for the approval, lots of forum users seem to like it very much. Although I expect a pythonesce reply now in the form of "I don't" :rofl2:

During the test drive the warnning sound came on for the tps it is annoying and I thought perhaps as the wheel bolts had been changed maybe the sensors were AWOL as well they are not cheap to replace at all and as far as I am concerned an unecessary evil. I can usually feel.the difference between an inflated tyre and a deflated one even on a Citroen. I don't suppose the c5 Is any different.

Moi? No, not again. I'm sure it's absolutely fine for what you need. I was just trying to redress the balance for the Mk1 which a lot of people dis for its looks. Like I said - I prefer it.

Damn, you got me saying it anyway.
