Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
Hi Marc.
Thanks again!
If i read the "Stellantis Recommended Engine Oils Updated February 2024" correct:
-i live in Finland / unit A
-my engine 1.2 Puretech 2016 EB2DT..?
So...according the list, i should use this oil:
0W30 oil B71 2312
Confusing....
-Michael

Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
Hi Michael. Thanks for bringing this anomaly to my attention. I've just re-downloaded another document with a recent July 2024 update, so will have to go through and update this again.
I can confirm that what I told you direct from Service (in my post here: viewtopic.php?p=806792#p806792) is correct - 5W30 and the correct specification.
I will temporarily delete the table until I have had time to update it.

No problem, I have now completed the update, so all should reflect the latest service documentation now.

HI there!GiveMeABreak wrote: 03 May 2024, 10:21 Ok, so you have a different engine variant (EB2ADTS).
The timing belt is 64k miles / 6 years, then every 128k miles (likely as they will be replacing it with a third generation belt).
As for oil, your vehicle requires:
00W20 B71 2010 (C5)
So this is as recorded in your servicing requirements, and as per the tables I updated, so QUARTZ INEO XTRA FIRST 0W20.
Thanks for the detailed information!
I am just curious what is "third generation belt" ?
Thanks in advance!
Brgds,
M.

Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
From memory, I likely mean the belt part number has been replaced 2 times already, so is likely to be further improved. The wet belt system is flawed in my opinion - any material circulating at high speed in hot oil by its nature is going to shred - even microscopic debris over time that is going to get into the engine. It looks like there will soon be a metal belt replacement kit out for wet belt EB2 engines by an independent company for these engines, to try and avoid this sort of issue.

Do you have any brand in mind? Bosch, Dayco, COntinental? Which is the best ?GiveMeABreak wrote: 17 Jan 2025, 10:01 From memory, I likely mean the belt part number has been replaced 2 times already, so is likely to be further improved. Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
I would stick to the OEM specific belt to be honest as they have determined the correct belt with the most suitable composition, one would expect.

You can obtain it from your dealer or if you require official parts data, please see below, as this data is chargeable by PSA:
We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or vehicle factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 3 years, so excellent value.
If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.

Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
Marc, could you please help with some further PureTech info? It's very related to the post here hence me adding to this topic.
My partner's sister has a Crossland X registered 31/08/2020 with the 110hp 1.2 Puretech turbo engine, I believe it is the EB2DT engine. The belt is starting to visibly crack under the oil filler cap so I have done a bunch of research and think I could tackle the replacement of it. I can find all sorts of kits from Vauxhall parts direct, SKF, NTN SNR, Febi Bilstein amongst others, but based on your above comments I feel I ought to try and find an OE belt, as you suggest it is likely to be the latest and 'greatest' of the wet belts, but I can't find the OE belt kit part numbers anywhere.
I've also looked into the recommended oils from your oil list updated in 2024, looking at the guide for a European country we should be using "0W30 oil B71 2312", and the "5W30 oil B71 2290" just has a dash through it. But in other posts since then the recommendation is the 5w30 oil (as per this thread).
Since then I've also spotted another Stellantis spec - FPW9.55535/03 which based on the top of the recommended oils post suggests only the RCP 5W30 oil (see below), but the ECS is around half the price. Based on the PSA specs ECS should be ok, but based on the new Stellantis spec it should be RCP only. What's the current recommendation? Is ECS not the way to go?
QUARTZ INEO ECS 5W30 B71 2290
QUARTZ INEO HTC 5W30 “ (does " here mean it's still rated to the PSA B71 2290 specs??)
QUARTZ INEO RCP 5W30 “
QUARTZ INEO RCP 5W30 FPW9.55535/03
Thank you Marc, Dom.

Marc is no longer on the forum so will not be replying.
You need to visit a Vauxhall dealer to get the latest oil specs since the topic on here is not being kept up to date and Vauxhall might be using different specs anyway. They also may be doing extended warranty belt replacements if the car has been dealer serviced so something to ask about. The dealer will also sell you the correct parts if you need to replace the belt yourself, bearing in mind copy parts may not have the same replacement intervals..

Re: Citroen 1.2 Puretech engine oil and cam belt
Thanks Paul, myglaren pinged me a PM letting me know that Marc had left the forum - a huge shame and a great loss to the forum.
Cheers for the advise about visiting a Vauxhall dealer directly. Unfortunately she has been using a local mechanic for servicing, with anything other than this daft puretech engine that's the right thing to do, but in this case it might bite her. Having said that I bet having a new belt fitted is probably still cheaper than a couple of Vauxhall services !
