Wee update!

Looking on the shock manufacturers site, it says they fit up to 02/07 which it didn't say on Arnold Clarks site. Is there any way to check mm/yy of manufacture for my pic? I see it was registered on 05/07 but don't know when it was manufactured.

Your log book will give your your cars true build date this should then give a rough idea of the old parts dates. If the shocks fit up to February 2007, april 2007 .. could be the reason the height is to high there for the older car.

I could tell you from the VIN but the site is down at present. The RP number should be on the label with the tyre pressures on the A or B pillar. Online calculator will translate the number to the date.

Ok, Arnold Clark have let me know that they are the wrong shocks and that they don't stock any for post 02/07, even though I put my reg in and they recommended these. Now to find the correct parts.

Left is 5202PJ, or cheaper part for older cars: 16 746 982 80; right 5202PK, or cheaper 16 355 416 80

There's no age range specified on these, they seem to be common to all diesel models, except early 2.0 HDis. The struts won't make the ride height high, they have no support role, this is provided by the springs (they could however make it low by being short and causing the unloaded length of the strut to be less).
