Filler cap fault issue

Just about all the diesels with particle filters have the same plug detect harness. Be aware that these are no longer available from Citroen now, so if it is your harness, it will need checking the wiring connections and repairing if necessary or a replacement if you can get it.

Gone through hoops here in Ireland trying to sort this. Had it checked and wiring is ok, cap is ok so looks like its the sensor itself. Living in the a*** hole of nowhere in Ireland not many options so it looks like its going to be a part from a breakers. My vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] would you be able to get the part number so I can go searching please.

OK another twist on this one. Just got in from where i was getting the car checked and had a chat with the mechanic who said the connector at the tank end was disconnected, this has to have been done prior to me buying the car in January this year as when he plugged it back in the error message stayed and service light was still on. So off i drive and get a few yards up the road and it starts beeping and the error message fuel cap not locked properly comes up and stays on and beeping at me. I turn round and go back and he said he had left it plugged in so we unplugged it again and fault disappears (this is why i say it must of been done prior to me buying the car)

I still have service light and risk of DPF clogging error (its not DPF as he said when connected to computer he checked and said its only at 7% ) as this issue only started a few weeks ago and the fuel filler sensor was already disconnected would there be another issue causing this (P2408) issue? or would it be that with it disconnected (for at least 8 months I'm aware of) that the ECU has thrown this up as Eloy's not been going in for this long?

Your issue is not going to be straightforward Tim, given the circumstances.

The fact that the warning concerning the cap not being connected is possibly an electrical fault in the harness between the cap and the fuel tank or the magnets in the cap.

Citroen supply a replacement cap with a random combination lock and the key for it, shown as:

Item (7), part: 1508W3, £114.60

Or you can have one without a barrel / lock, part: 1508H7, £58.85

Item (3), the actual contact switch (included for completeness) is part: 649071, £18.44

Of course UK Sterling inc. 20% VAT, direct from Citroen.

So I would first get the fuel cap issue sorted. I suspect the previous owner had disconnected it to avoid MOT failure (or NCT / Equivalent test) as that would of thrown a light up.

Here's the diagram for the harness itself:

Item (20), part: 6534PF, but no longer available from Citroen. But you can use the part number to find a second hand one.

OK update on this, finally found the part on Ebay in Poland for €156 had it fitted a few weeks back and all codes gone and everything seems fine..(hopefully not jinxed it now haha)
any way failed NCT today on rear discs, both sides and anti roll bar link on the offside rear. I'll be off to the garage tomorrow to find out which arm and leg I'm going to have to give to pay for that.

Just as a point I presume its probably prudent to do both anti roll bar links even though just one side failed!

I would agree with doing both drop links at the same time. They can be tricky to replace, but not impossible. I have used Lemforder, as they are an OEM supplier.
