If you go into parameter measurement you should be able to see the engine speed. I think it needs to be at least 180 rpm to get a start, you also need the rail pressure to be above 200 bar or so, or it won't start the injection.

I recall it's the rail pressure not getting high enough with the slow cranking that's the issue. My Berlingo only just got the required rpm eventually but didn't get the pressure.

Any idea which is the rail pressure as I am not sure what's what when reading the data?
I am hoping the RPM has RPM as the units?

Have you got diagbox? In which case it should be under engine ecu and then standard parameter measurement; you are looking for a big number in bars. Aftermarket scanners it might be something else, e.g. FRP - and I'e seen one recently where it was quoted in kPa, so it was a really big number!!

I have a Blue Point Microscan
When cranking it reads zero RPM until it starts?
Would this bottom one be fuel pressure?

Yes that's Fuel Rail Pressure at the bottom. I also note you've had the EML on for 68km according to that tool, what faults are you getting? Could that be related to the starting perhaps?

Cranking RPM may not show on that tool but it is interesting to note... Perhaps you could try it on another similar vehicle & see if it registers cranking speeds there?

The EGR valve has been stuck for about 4 years, turn the light out and it comes back after 30 mins or so

Today progress, it wasn't cold but tried the jump lead from engine block to battery, not certain to be honest but went to the scrappy fitted an extra earth strap from block to Engine mount, did some one mention the filter housing and having to tighten it with a big wrench??? Well I thought lets give it a try, got almost half a turn on it, so let see how it is tomorrow

It's the starter motor. We did tell you.. this happens to so many of this engine...

Very true , had a similar issue but with a different car years ago , new starter motor and it worked the motors wear and slow down after a few years

I know but I need to be certain, I wont stop moaning for months if I buy one and it doesn't cure it!
I have arthritis in both hands so its a pain for me to remove it, I can refurbish it my self just fiddly for me to remove.
I do fancy one of the big fancy high output ones though.

I didn't know it had any vacuum stuff on the engine?
