For the sake of a tenner, I've ordered one. I'll pull it apart over the weekend, hopefully that solves it! Be the last of the gremlins with the C5 at least for a while.

£10 for a genuine one isn't bad considering what they charge for silly bits of plastic trim - no sense in getting a pattern part if you can get on OEM one for the same price. Carefully remove the wheel arch lining and easy enough to get to.

I was thinking that Simon, but for a £10 it's got to be worth a pop first. :)

@Spurious - Have you been having any other issues specifically with indicators not cancelling or random switching on / off of headlights? Those can all be attributed to a dodgy comms unit - but if not fingers crossed the pump will sort it.

Spurious - there are some pics of the washer pump / pipe arrangements in my C5 profile thread, if you want to see what's involved. (Link to that in my signature strip)

I've had a look at that there WurlyCorner.

By looking at your post I think I could get at the pump by just removing the wheel liner? I'm not taking the bottle out, just gonna swap out the motor and inspect the pipework.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to reply, I've been on long shifts during the week, has me knackered.

Nope, it's been behaving itself more or less since I got it. Auto headlights do what they should. Indicators do what they should. There's a sticky hazard light button but that's on the list.

That's a good sign then, those are some of the issues that can indicate the comms unit failure - my MK I even went so far as loosing all the instrumentation / interior lighting on the motorway - everything electrical on the dash - heater A/C audio - all went dead, Everything fired up on startup, but the comms unit was replaced and was at fault - probably one of the earlier ones, but unnerving to say the least!

Result, I can see out my windscreen now.

It was the pump after all. Not fancying a bumper off job in the sleet and snow, I just loosened the bumper mounting screws and the wheel arch liner. Managed to get enough clearance to squeeze my hand in and pull/twist the pump off it's rubber bung. 15 minute job in total, quite happy with that. Thanks for all the help folks. C5 is mostly clear of little niggles 8-)

Excellent, a relatively easy, cheap and pain-free fix. :-D

Thankfully it was a quick job as it was baltic out. Always jealous of folk with garages in this weather.
