Can anyone recommend a good trolley Jack and axial stands

Its fun getting mine under my mates 350z and surprisingly under the front of my Berlingo?!

I have a similar problem with my 405, there's not enough clerance between the subframe and the deck to get the trolley beneath.

I've found the best way around this is to use a small bottle jack with a length of wood (mine's about a ft long) under the front cross-member (assuming there is a metal cross-member on these, don't do it if its all plastic) just to raise the suspension. Having done so there's then clearance to get the Trolley under the Subframe.

Obviously, don't attempt to lift the car beyond the suspension travel like this.

It was for that reason that I bought a low-height trolley jack - plenty of them about, same price as standard ones. Compact enough to put in the boot for long journeys away from home.

You could of course just drive it up on wooden blocks first to make room for the jack to go under.

I'm still using my dad's trolley jack, must be 40 years old now.

I did have a set of axle stands that were great - raise suspension, pop them under, drop suspension and the wheel magically lifts off the ground for changing.

I believe they were added to my ex-son in law's collection.

Bought some replacements (Halfords) and they are half an inch too tall to fit under the raised car

One of my Halfords jacks must be getting on for 40 too Steve...

Still does the job but does leak a little oil in its old age!

SGS engineering are currently doing a jack for about £25. The only drawback is the max height is 385mm.
