Wow that's incredible, the seagull left fractured glass like a spiders web but didn't indent the screen at all, just the roof. Maybe pheasants are tougher, or possibly because mine hit higher. I was doing about 85 at the time, speed could be a factor.

He was doing significantly more then that in high winds and the pheasant was possibly blown towards him so a likely impact speed of around 140mph.
That car is quite mental when he turns the 'Cupra' system on.
Although the screen is still 'intact' the car was full of shards of glass from inside the laminate.
Had it been on the drivers side the story could have been quite different...

AFAIK when you claim for a windscreen, you have a claim on your policy. It does not affect NCD but is loaded against you on renewal.
Someone did an article on it, maybe Money Matters or the like.

Has not affected me at all, my premiums have stayed the same or come down even, and that is with the same insurer.

What I said basically. It's not always the case but can be factor in working out your basic premium.

Your insurance quotation consists of your basic premium but then less the NCD. The NCD is a percentage and so if the basic premium is raised then the percentage is of a higher price.

Yeah, but premiums fluctuate anyway and you are a year older and your car may drop £1500 in value on renewal from previous year.
I drove like a Loony yesterday............yet today, my premium is the same

Better not have dropped by £1500! Anyway - I pay in, don't claim, pay to protect my NCD, so I think a £240 windscreen once every 5 years that costs the insurance company £150 (after I've paid my additional £90 excess) is not taking the Michael. :-D

Interesting to hear how they get on with the tailgate opening not working on your car... (how do they sign off the job as complete, if the new rear screen doesn't function correctly, I.e. open on the switch that they will have to reinstall  )

If the switch is faulty they are around £40 to replace (I got mine from a Peugeot dealership). I would test it with a multi-meter (now that you can gain access to the connector under the hasp cover). My switch had partial failure due to water ingress (sometimes it would open from being pressed, sometimes it needed several presses to work), and occasionally the tailgate glass would open when I opened a door (any door).
