The estate (96) did, I removed it. The red one (95) didn't.

Does your vsx have a keypad?
Immobiliser keypads were only used in Series 1 Xantia's. Your S1 is 1995 - the 1995 Activa had an immobiliser keypad so it doesn't surprise me that your car has the wiring harness for it.

Only some engines supported the keypad though - my Japan spec 1997 S1 Xantia 2.0i (8 valve petrol) that I had in NZ had no immobiliser keypad, and no alarm either.

I know that, but I'm pointing out that at least one model of Series 1 Xantia of the same age as yours did use a keypad, you were concerned that your car pre-dates the use of keypads in Xantia's but it doesn't. Hence why it would not be surprising to find an unused cable for it in the wiring loom.

Well, no-one has said that that it isn't for powered seats.

Sorry but it definitely isn't.

The powered seats use a LOT of current, those two small diameter wires would have no chance of supplying that. From memory the electric seats are brown or black with pretty heavy wires. I'll see if I can get a picture of the connectors on mine without removing the seat.

Those yellow plugs look pretty heavy to me. Just two wires into each plug.

If you're referring to the yellow plugs under the centre console tray those are probably for heated seats as the heated seat controls go there in cars fitted with them. The heater element also draws a lot of current. The electric seat (for adjustment) don't go via any plugs in the centre console tray area.

My S2 V6 had heated seats but my S1 V6 doesn't so I can't check unfortunately.

the seat wires also have three wires, as there is a relay in the seat base so they only come on with the ignition :)
