I wish I never started speaking about bacon,squid and anything else but it appears to be from the base of the injectors

It is NOT oil more like diesel.

SHMBO would be MINOR bit annoyed if I had to remove injectors to replace copper seals unnecessarily

Easy job to replace the seals, provided the injectors aren't stuck.
You're supposed to renew the pipe from the common rail to each injector, but IME there's no need if you're careful with the metal - metal seals when refitting.

No, Kenny, the HDi injectors are not screwed in like the 1.9. They're a push fit and no pressure must be applied to the hexagon at all for risk of damage to the electrical bit of it.

Undo and remove the forked clamp and in theory they should just lift straight out. I believe there's a tool you can get that helps lift them out, a special pivoting lever that fits in where the forked clamp sits...

The injectors on the 2.2 can be a 'mare to remove but I've not heard the same applied to the 2.0. Sadly I have no direct experience of injector removal but others on here have and will no doubt soon offer advice.

Trouble is, I'm still a newbie on the HDi but learning fast...

I recently replaced a couple of 2.0 HDi injectors, and they came out very easily - a slight rock with normal hand pressure, and they just lifted out. Hopefully, yours will be the same
I wonder why the 2.2 ones are so different?

Kenny, the injector is Item 8 in the picture above. Only problem is I'm not sure what they mean by NE and ES Injectors and what the difference is. Not sure what they mean by Age =>2 either

Now they're the part numbers for 110 HDi injectors...

I'll go check if they are different for the 90...

The Bosch part Number 9640088780 seems about correct after a few more searches....

I replaced the washers on our Xantia HDi's injectors.

They lifted out without any problems at all

There's also a little black plastic piece in there I replaced as well. All in all, not a bad job, expect it to be less then 30 mins to do them all. (As long as they lift out!)
