It was only at idle that mine was particularly noisy, on the go it was fine. Even a few revs above idle it quietened down.

The HDis are quite a lot more refined than the XUDs, quieter at idle especially. They also have a wider spread of power which makes them nicer to drive and require fewer gear changes.

PSA have been amongst the top manufacturers for diesel engines for years now.

Hmmm :lol:

I think the 2.0HDi 8v and 2.1TD are very good engines, apart from the HDI having more power more of the time they do drive fairly similar.

The 2.0 16v HDi is a lot better to drive.

The 2.1 is smoother and more progressive from 1000 - 1500 rpm, the power all comes at once on the Hdi and not as smoothly.
