I've just parted with my Xantia & just wanted to say thanks for the help I've received here, directly or through reading old posts.
I was hoping my old car would be appreciated by a new owner & am amazed to hear it has been sold on privately for close to £1000. Not bad for a 98 car!

If the C5 was a bit smaller I'd have got one. And yes, I can see me getting a hydraulic Citroen again. I'm already missing the blend of ride & handling, but not the noisy diesel engine. It's strange having a car that gets quieter when I come to a halt again!myglaren wrote:I'm sure it is only au revoir. I bought A xantia off a fellow member on here, Xantic, and he had bought a Vaux Vectra....
However, 4 months later, he has bought another Xantia
For the ride, I would sacrifice the "Larger Cars a problem" for the comfort and ride!

I know a few people who have C5s and find them too big, but have them anyway as they like the comfort and ride quality - they also say they have no idea what they will replace it with when the time comes. They will have to last a good while i think, until Citroen start making proper big and spacious Citroens again. The C5III is too much style over function and most have funny little coils of metal under their arches. No balls in sight

Yes, my C5 just feels a normal sized car to me, extremely easy to park. When my sis first got hers she found it big, and it has the battle scares to prove. My mum wont drive the C5s, she finds them too big, yet she used to drive the Xm hatch (it was an auto), but the Xm estate is massive and a manual with 4 pedals, which puts both my sis and mum off driving that one.
The first C5 estate we bought was a 52 reg 110 SX from a Citroen indy, it was traded in for a Xantia as its owner found the C5 to be too big after owning another Xantia previously.
The C5 is quite a bit bigger than a Xantia, facelift C5s are longer at the front (and rear on the hatch) than the S1 C5 too. I think they are a similar size to an Xm hatch actually, but wider.
Our 52 hatch has the turning circle of a supermini, really impressive, its front wheels seem to go almost 90 degrees
Later ones, with bigger/wider wheels have a worse turning circle.
As with any car, once your used to it parking is a doddle. Estates are easier with their flat back.

I would agree, I think PSA have always been at the forefront of diesel development, I had a 404 diesel, noisy but you could actually feel it accelerating and when the Diesel CX came out in the late '70s it was the most refined diesel ever, improved on by the XUD, and the Hdi is still one of the quietest.
