I believe that the 'Citroen Bible' quotes 8 hours to do the clutch on a 1.9td.
Anyway, I'll find out this weekend,

OK just a quick update....everything had been going fine .... clutch out (centre had collapsed) new clutch in (Valeo from GSF) gearbox on lift.... lift breaks down.... get new part for lift on Monday (hopefully) work commences as soon as.
Oh! it took me the first 2 hours of the job to split the bottom ball joint
then it's been OK

All done! What a relief... pleased I did it myself but hope I don't have another one to do fo a long time. Just one query, I feel that their is a little to much play at the top of the clutch pedalis their some way of removing it or should I have used a new cable?
