Parts lookup

Unread post by Expertamateur »

It looks like the old parts number lookup service is no longer functioning. I have been using a website called partsouq.com/. It has well-detailed drawings and lists part codes for all the things on the drawings. Using those codes I have been able to track down almost all the parts I need.
Today I find that I can't enter the site without setting up an account (or something) so I can't get in to search a part number.

Anyone know of another source of part info? I am trying to install a pair of new antiroll bar links (already purchased) but as usual it is a swine to get the old ones off. The top end of the link is bolted to the strut but the nut I need to undo is blocked by a mickey mouse bracket that holds a cable. I think it is something to do with ABS or something. If I use a disc cutter to remove the old link end I will destroy the bracket and need to find a new one to secure the mystery cable.

These days it's difficult to get owt for nowt & most sites like this require some info from you.
I've just ordered a pollen filter for Mme's car's heating/cooling system from Auto doc & had to set up an a/c even though they had my email & home address on file but no password.
Why not simply set up an a/c & continue the obviously good relationship you've enjoyed?
They must already have your address & payment details if you've previously purchased from them.

I should have given more info.
This site seems to be a main source of parts for garages, etc. Their site posts all the factory parts drawings and parts codes for not just normal service items but every integral part from bodyshells to badges, seat trims, nuts, bolts, clips, everything. I haven't actually tried buying from them yet. I usually just start with the factory part number and do a Google search. The part often turns up on ebay somewhere in Europe, often new in the mfr's packaging.

So to directly answer your question....... I have not yet had any dealings with them trying to make a purchase. Out of desperation I began the process of registration in order to get access to the master catalogue. All normal stuff except they then wanted my PayPal info. I then began to smell a rat. I later discovered they are located in Dubai. Still wondering if it would be safe to give them the information. I have been unable to find any detailed sketch or part number for what I need.

Still wondering where people go to locate a Peugeot factory part number.
Or alternatively has anyone signed up for an account with Partsouk in Dubai?

I know that this probably isn't what you want to hear, but I go to my phone and ring a dealership. I have never failed to get a factory part number for one of my cars from any dealership I've contacted.

You speak the truth. But I can't do that. I don't speak French, and if I could, they would simply say they don't keep parts for a 20-year old car.

I need to see the drawing in the master catalogue to identify the part by sight. Most dealerships (apart from being bandits) only keep late model service maintenance parts in stock and for anything out of the ordinary they look in the master catalogue to get a (code) number. Older than a set number of years (maybe 10) the stock is sold on to a third party. Without the code I don't have a chance of locating it on the internet.

You could do with the Peugeot service box https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/5039608521

Many thanks, Paul.
I hope this includes what I am looking for. It claims to come with all kinds of stuff. If it includes the master parts list for the 307CC I will be delighted. I just have to wait until October when my friend comes over to deliver it. The seller won't send to France.

I don’t want to make you cry! Or maybe feel mad.

The one specific dealership I’m thinking about has told me that they will do as much as possible to help drivers of older Peugeots keep their cars on the road. They have supplied me with part numbers, drawings (done by their own mechanics!), copies of the parts book for future reference, pages from the instruction section of the Peugeot technical handbook, and if I phone them, everything is emailed to me, usually within the hour.

Other dealerships have been helpful, but maybe not quite as helpful as the first one above.

Yes, I understand that.

And see above.

I’m really sorry that you don’t get the same service as I get. I don’t know how to help you with that, although I see that Paul has posted something that might be helpful for you.

Yes, he has. And I have placed my order. Just a waiting game now.
You are very fortunate to have found a great dealership that serves you well. It is pretty rare in UK, and even worse in rural France.
I have heard it said that the reason French cars have such a generally poor reputation is because the UK dealers don't want to invest in enough of the factory training for their service & repair departments. My wife's 406 has been in France since it was first sold and given reasonable servicing has never had a single breakdown in 25 years.

UPDATE:
Here we are well into October and I have just tried to use the USB stick with the Peugeot service box thing on it. Pretty useless. It comes with something called a Virtual Box on it which I am guessing is something I have to install first in order to read the Peugeot stuff. I installed the Virtual Box, at least I think I did, because a lot of the images of the things I was supposed to see were nowhere to be found. I muddled through and tried to access the Peugeot file which it began to download into the box (?) but I tried a dozen or so times but I only manage about 13% before it fails and aborts the process. Since the instructions I have managed to find try to show step by step.............many of them do not appear as shown. Game over. More money wasted.

I was going to ask the seller on Ebay for clear instructions or a refund but he is no longer advertising there. Anyone know of a way to lay eyes on a full parts list for my 2006 307 money pit?

There seems to be a few things on the internet on how to install it. I have the Citroen service box on an old pc with Windows Vista so did not need to do anything about a virtual box, it came on 3 dvds. The one with the parts diagrams I have to use to see the diagrams. An example https://autodiag-france.com/en/blogs/tu ... -box-sedre

Thanks anyway mate. My head was about to burst during my attempt yesterday to install the thing. I checked out your link above and find there is even more I have to install before I can access what I want. Adobe Reader and Java, so more steps to cope with and I haven't a clue what SEDRE is. I must admit all this is way beyond my pay grade so unless I can find a simple download I will have to pass. I have spent way too much time trying to access the parts list for my car and frankly I have had enough. The PartsSouk site that I used to be able to consult doesn't even list Peugeot as being supported any more.

Even if I could get the info I need (the factory part reference numbers) I find it is getting near impossible to get parts for this POS anyway. Given the faults this car has and the incredible thirst for petrol it has I think it may well be going to the scrapper the next time it goes wrong. I can get about €85 for it if I can get it to them or nothing at all if they have to come and fetch it themselves. Then its back to an indestructible 2 litre diesel of an age without too many useless computer controlled bells and whistles.

I had another thought, on the installation dvd I am sure there was a file with installation instructions which I printed out so something you could check.

Yes Paul. There is such a file on the usb stick I bought. It says to install the Virtual Box thing and then go from there. The steps to achieve the installation are presented in order with screenshots of what to do and when. The trouble is, only a few of them show what I actually see and lead to nowhere. You have tried to be helpful and I do appreciate that. I will keep looking for a solution or a source of the Peugeot Service Box that will actually work on my PC.
