Those isolation valves are well known to start leaking from the operating shaft o-rings once they have been disturbed.... If you can easily knock the water off, I would replace with something better!

Thanks Richard but I think I was mistaken as it has remained bone dry since I looked last time. It is possible that I simply didn't dry it when I took the pipe off. I have today refitted the pipe to it with a new olive and fresh PTFE tape so I don't want to disturb that and hopefully it will be beyond my time before it will need looking at again!! The bath was installed in 2009 so the plumbing was fine and only the bath itself has failed. Not surprising when you see how thin it is, had I have been there when it was installed I would probably have rejected it because of that but I wasn't!!

This summer we had 16 yo grandson & two mates staying for a week using our loft apartment.
Long after they'd gone we found that a screw-in wooden leg on one of the beds we brought here from the UK many years ago was broken. Yeah that's kids for you
On examination I discovered that the dual threaded screw had snapped leaving the wood screw part still in the leg & the bolt type end nowhere to be seen.
The remaining legs had what appeared to be 8mm bolt thread but 8mm threaded rod I had wouldn't fit.
Searching through my boxes of bits & bobs for a bolt I could weld onto the wood screw end resulted in nothing that would fit so out came my old dad's tool boxes I inherited.
The first useful thing I found was a thread gauge which showed me the thread should be 5/16 BSW so like looking for rocking horse poo trying to find that sort of thing in France.
Continued digging through old chap's boxes discovered a foot length of the exact size threaded bar I required. What's the odds on that??
I drilled the hole in the leg down a further couple of inches with an interference fit, screwed in the threaded bar 'till well tight & cut it off to length.
Result , a perfect job when reunited with bed which would not have been possible with the old chap's 'stuff'.

Progress on the bathroom refit, the bath has arrived, it was shrink wrapped to the pallet so the bungee cord is my own means of security after inspecting it for chips etc, there were none and no fish either!

The new bath awaiting feet, handles, waste and taps all of which will go on after it is upstairs!!

They even supply an instruction leaflet to tell you how to fit the handles and feet, could never have worked them out!!

Now I am just waiting for the new flexible connectors and we'll be ready to go!!

Exceptionally busy day with progress on the garage shelving upgrade and the bathroom has had a huge step forward. Sadly the delivery which should have been here on Wednesday, then Thursday finally partially arrived today. Only ten of the fifteen pieces I had ordered arrived, in two packs of five. The driver said the other pack must have got seperated and was I at home tomorrow? I've already stayed home for two fruitless days I told him and now another, I didn't let on that I'm fairly rooted here at the moment anyway!!

I'll leave it to the pictures to tell most of the story:

The new shelving, arrived at midday after I'd been working in thebathroom.

I had to trim all the corners for the fitting I'd planned so I set up the chop saw with the correct fence position.

I stopped for a coffee and took a quick snap of the corner trimmed shelves

Back from the coffee and the first one went into position.

Two hours later I had got the first eight sorted. I was able to increase the fixed work bench across two racks which will be much more useful.

That leaves the two top shelves on those racks for the last two I have so far. Should be some more for the recycling centre as I sort those out!!

Finally I went to help my mate in the bathroom as he had been sorting the plumbing side of the bath install ready for me to do the water detector and the panels. I was too knackered today but at least we have a fully functional bath, at least it will be after 24 hours when the silicone is set:

Came in from the garage a bit too soon for the GP so took the chance to temporarily locate the bath panels. I don't want to fit them until my new leak detectos arrive so this will do for the time being. SWMBO used the bath yesterday and pronounced it better than the old one!! That'll do for me

Looks better until I can fit them properly.
