Increased fuel consumption

I have a 2008 Peugeot 207 1.6 hdi which is getting poor mpg I can usually get around 360 miles on £40 of fuel but that has dropped to 220 so I have used a scanner (icarsoft cr plus ) which has come up with no faults so I done a live data reading on the 4 injectors and this is the readings I am getting when idling also the in car display that tells you your mpg is all over the place one minute it says 50mpg
then it jumps to 300mpg then 999mpg and then back to around 50mpg and it does this constantly while driving

Given the price of fuel has rocketed, x miles / value is a poor indicator! The number you are looking at is instantaneous consumption so yes it moves about. Reset the trip then do a couple of hundred miles and see what it is reporting for average MPG - I'd expect to see 45-50.

Sorry I should of said I drive to Cambridge from Norwich 3 times a week and £40 covers but now it only covers 2 trips

Still the same argument, it's an unreliable measurement. The price of fuel has gone up so much. Do you keep your receipts to show how much fuel you're getting for your £40?

Before the USA/Iran war diesel was going for around £1.30 a litre. It is now around £1.85 a litre, an increase of about 40%. Based on that, going from 3 journeys to 2 journeys (for the same COST of fuel) seems right to me.

Having said all the above, looking at your screenshot the correction for injector 2 is a lot different to the other 3 so that injector looks to be on the way out.

I did some back of the envelope sums and I reckon you should have been getting about 250 miles, rather than 220, per £40 at the prices James put forward. So, you're about 30 miles down and maybe that bit can be blamed on the injector. But 110 miles down is due to the price increase.

Thanks everyone for who has replied but I was hoping for a bit of advice on what the causes would be rather then told how to drive
Like I said I drive regularly and have before the fuel went up and now with the fuel increase so know there is a issue somewhere I just wanted to be pointed in the right direction on where to start looking
The figures I gave were only rough estimates just so I could explain the fuel increase

I take it you have checked the obvious, Airfilter, Fuel filter, no brakes binding? Immediately after your next drive, touch each wheel with your hand, they should be same temperature side to side.

Just in case you do not know, if your car is like our cars, the trip computer has 3 pages, trip 1, trip 2 and instantaneous. These are changed by pressing the button on the end of the wiper stalk. It only goes up to 6214 miles (9999 km) so once there any values do not mean much. To reset it, on the trip 1 and 2 pages press and hold in the button and that page will go back to 0 miles. I tend to keep trip 1 for short periods/a long single journey and trip 2 for longer term so trip 1 I reset more often.

Using the air con increases fuel use slightly but less than having windows open. In the recent hot weather you will probably have been using the air con more.
