Speedo cable oil leak

Hi All
I’m hoping someone else has had this problem, ok I’ve got a Peugeot Boxer 2001, and I’ve noticed whilst fitting a new speedo cable that oil is leaking around the plastic retainer which goes into the gearbox, I’ve fitted a new rubber O ring seal thinking this will do it unfortunately not , so I thought I’d ask on here as people has helped me a lot in the past with advice.
