Some different views of the Eclipse

I thought I'd do a 2 minute interval freeze frame from the sun facing CCTV camera, this was the result:

One hour before the scheduled time given out on the TV

I had a wander into the park and had similarly disappointing results. At the crucial moment the sun was obscured by clouds.

No photos from me as I was out on my bike riding around the countryside for the duration... I don't think my bikecam will have got anything significant... And I decided to enjoy being in the 'moment' and the atmosphere of it rather than faff about trying to (likely unsuccessfully) capture it on film.

The semi-twilight was quite eerie. The time of near-totality was spent with like-minded friends at the start of a TT race. That nearly didn't happen due to worries about the potential low light levels. It was dim enough that my Garmin was hard to read unless the backlight was on...

I was pleased to be out and about to experience it; I missed the 1999 eclipse as I was in Rangoon at the time and there was no visible eclipse at all there...

While out yesterday evening only armed with a solar sheet of telescope paper for viewing the sun for sun spots and my phone i sort of got a photo of the eclipse, plus a bit of sunset after

I managed to see the partial eclipse looking through 2 welding mask filters and took a few photos through the green filters. This one is the max coverage, not a brilliant photo though. The event was not as spectacular as the BBC were leading us to believe and it only got slightly darker. The photo is black due to the filters.

A Gypsy Moth flew over as well and was more spectacular, whilst moving slowly it was still too fast to get a decent photo before it was hidden by housing.

They only look cool. There's more today and it is 31.9°C in the shade, 33.3°C on the south side of the house, was more earlier.

I wasn't expecting much but I joined all the other hopefuls at our scenic West Park in Darlington with my Iphone 6A ....

Having experienced the full eclipse from Newquay in 1999 I wasn't expecting much yesterday .....and that's exactly what I got so musn't grumble

Whilst still living in the UK we saw the stupendous 1999 eclipse from a perfect headland vantage point overlooking the sea on our local Devon golf course.
Things went dark & birds etc stopped singing. A totally gob smacking experience.
Here in France Mme & me sat out at the very hot anticipated hour with a range of pinhole cameras I'd cobbled together in anticipation of a good show.
Despite a full view of the sun all we noticed was an almost imperceptible darkening in the sky.
We figured we'd never beat the '99 experience so gave up here after about a half hour of nothing & returned indoors to the A/C & apéritifs (drinkies)
