Citroen c3 1.6 hdi no dpf oil type

I have a Citroen c3 1.6 hdi 2005 90hp no dpf

Most people seem to use 5w30 but on recommendation from a oil site they reckon 5w40 is better and will burn less oil.
What is best for this car is the turbocharger safe with 5w40 as read it can get starved. But thought 5w40 might be good as high mileage. In the manual it states both are fine for this engine

Can anyone recommend.

With a high mileage engine and hence everything loosened up I'd use 5w40 every time.

Will the turbocharger be ok with that oil on this engine as prone to starvation

As it is included in your manual I don't see why not.

It seems I can use 5w30 or 5w40 according to this. Why do you use 5w30

Only because it suits my 407 with fap as well. Make sure you keep and eye on the injectors for leaks. I tweak mine by hand every oil change (10000 miles, not the 20k as per the handbook). They didn't need tightening last time.

I normally change the oil once a year.
Do you think the thicker oil would be better
One of the injectors does look wet around it. Do you tighten them to a specific torque.
