HI-FI System DS3 - HELP Upgrading

Unread post by fnsramos »

Hello guys!

I have a DS3 2013.
Bought the central speaker, but I need help to install it. Since i don`t have the BFH1 box, do I have to buy it? Because my car does not have the heated seats. I do not intend for now to buy the Rear sub.
I have to make or buy(if there is a code for that, would help) a harness for the central speaker and also, where do I attach on the radio (the pins?)

You can see on the photos that I found 2 plugs on the botton box and on the central speaker vault, the cable that pass throught there is for the tweeters, no other harness in there.

So...I was able to find the connector for the central speaker, but no sound or energy seems to come through (tested with the multimeter). The thing is..do I need Activate via Diagbox only? Or need anything else? Like running a cable through to "energize" the connector. As you can see, I don't have the BFH1 in my car

**Update -> Was able to activate via diagbox to the HIFI analog (because the hifi digital the system does not allow me)

Checking the cables, the central speaker harness is connected to the radio, but still no sound coming from it
Now if you guys can help me out, let me see if I understand

The diagram 8427 is the radio itself? I was unable to find the BFH1 in my car. So I was thinking, Can I wire the radio (wich pin?) direct to the PSF1 Maxi Fuse MF7 using a universal fuse box between? Maybe is the solution? Thanks

Many thanks

You refer to photos but haven't attached any? :)

Sorry :rofl2:

Here are the plugs that I`m in doubt, if it connects to the BFH1. Besides that, find below the Update so far

Update:
I did kind of a retrofit, made all the connections and wiring. The thing is, central speaker now works (had to pass 2 wires from the amp (8427 on diagram) to the central speaker (84B1), and attached to the plug that is on the original harness.
all the others, I made a direct connection amp(8427) to the RD45 (8480), except for the ZE14E (yellow) that comes from the amp to the BSI, because I don`t know where to plug/wire it on the BSI, without it, the amp does not ''turn on'', so looks like and ACC 12+, so a made it with the positive, and the amp turn on.
Everything is ''working''
Central speaker is playing as it should, test on the radio (RD45), the balance ''left/right'' and applys correctly.

Now, on diagbox I only found the option Autoradio>Sound type > Default/Hi-Fi Analogue/Hi-Fi Digital

Leaving on Default or Analogue doesn`t change anything, the sound does not seems to receive ''more power'' (or RMS).
So, the amp is processing the sound the way I see it, but in my conception, It should at least give it a little ''pump''?
Default and Hi-Fi Analogue should have different kind of potency?

Tried also with chatGPT, but now I`m in this dead end 8-)

Any thoughts? Ideias? Maybe ZE14E should go to the BSI, but need exactly where, couldn`t find by only looking the diagram. Also a firmwaer update for the BSI? Because when I try to find via diagbox the ''amplifier present'', cannot find?

I know that the wiring looks ugly on the photo, but I did properly with soldering and isolating everything and then put the amp (a515) in a space found under the Steering Wheel, because if not, I would have to do wiring all the way from the trunk.

Thanks a Lot

Thanks a lot

Hello guys, I have a ds3 that originally didn't have a hi-fi system, and had rd4.5 radio.
I installed a SMEG IV2 and bought a subwoofer with module and original central channel of the Hi-Fi sistem, but I'm having trouble finding the connection scheme.
I got the 12V power supply and grounding, but I still have the radio wires that I don't know

This isn't specifically for the IV2 variant but maybe it's close enough.

Hello my friend!

I was able to connect everything. I will try to explain for you the wiring. One tip that I can give you, instead of wiring 13 wires from the back to the front for the radio (because you have to connect everything to the rd45), you can use the plug to the A515 and there is space under the steering wheel that you can put the a515 (module). Then, you only use 4 wires for the subwoofer to the module, will be easier.
I discovered the diagram. Made it on Paint ( :rofl2: ) and will try to take some photos for you.
Another thing is, if you didn't have the hi fi system before, first thing to check is if your central speaker space already has the harness for install. If not, will be another problem, but I think that we can make it work anyway.
If you have the harness (plug) for the central speaker, even if you plug it and use Diagbox, it won't work. You will have to power it directly from the a515(module that came with the subwoofer). And also if you don't have the heated seats, probably you don't have the BFH1 (is the auxiliary fuse box for the heated seats and hi-fi system), but also can be pypassed.

8427 = a515 amp (the one that came with the subwoofer).
84B1 = central speaker (you can see that wires 6 and 14 must be connected to the harness for the central speaker, even if you have de plug, you must solder these 2 wires from the connector from the module to the central speaker plug wires)
8480 = RD45 - here you will have to match the wiring to the radio. you can solder directly to the wires on the radio (pro tip, use at least 20cm of wires or, if you are pulling the wires from the trunk, then you don't need to worry if you won't put the module hiding next to the radio on the dash or under the steering wheel)
The green one MC70C is the Green/Yellow wire is the ground one, if you use on the trunk, you can find a ground next to the right rear light. If in front of the car, you can attach (solder) on the ground wire that is also on the rd45.
Bf38 is the positive = you can go straight for the battery or you can also solder/attach to the positive for the radio, but on this one I recommend using at least a 20A fuse box (wire out of the a515 >fuse box> positive radio), then it will make kind of the function of the BFH1.
It is not "hard" but it is a long and boring service.
I mapped from my rd45 the 16 connector colors for the rd45 and matched with photo from an a515 plug connector. I hope it helps
Yes...I'm a f...ng Jedi Master and developed the retro fit for this. Took me 1.5 months to do so, since we don't have much material for these. Also I don't have the original subwoofer, but for luck I had an old 8'' sub speaker that has dual coil and is 2+2 ohms and it seems that the original one is the same configuration, since I made the wiring, plug it and works perfectly.
Now I'm working on a fiber glass box for the sub to fit on the hole on the trunk that we use for access the rear light, since the cover is different for the ones that came with the subwoofer and the ones that didn't

If you have any other doubts, text me, and I'm from Brazil, if you have Whatsapp you can call me later on private msg.
Best Regards

Here, I think it will be easier directly to your photo to match the wires
