MyCitroen app, for entertainment or despair

Unread post by Richard_C »

I don’t need help with this, as my car is MHEV I don’t need the app to work for range or charging like BEV owners do but it would be interesting to hear from others. Judging by the reviews on google play, sorted by most recent, and similar reviews for MyPeugeot, MyJeep, my anything Stellantis I’m not alone.

It tells me where I parked, very accurately and sometimes useful on huge park and ride or airport sites. Except it doesn’t. It tells me with very great accuracy where I parked the time before last. Then there’s the mpg. Handy to see by journey so you get a feel for how to extract best economy. But a few weeks back an update broke that, it’s now between 11 and 21 mpg with no consistent error factor.

The car is 15 months old with c 10.5 k miles on the clock. I had the first year service on time, for a long time the app told me another was due in 3 months. But now it’s much improved :). Look at the picture, it’s telling me I’ve missed the 2 year service, travelled backwards about 70,000 miles and now need to book it in soon for a 208,000 mile service. It will be different tomorrow but still bear no resemblance to reality.

And they advertise this as a brilliant feature of their cars and after 1 year free charge for it. Once the renewal comes up the app goes. But it does sour the ownership experience which is why we will be looking to replace my wife’s C3 with a small BEV, Renault, Nissan, Kia …anything but Stellantis.

It is my belief that the real purpose of the app is to gain information for Stellantis and other organisations under the disguise of helping the owner!! :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Having had both My Citroen and My DS apps, I concur they are both consistently 'cr*p' !
The My DS app has been marginally better than the Citroen version.

But it still sometime fails to connect to the car, fails to record some journeys / days totally..
The MPG varies wildly, but not as much as Richards experience..
The maintainence history is totally useless, even though its been activated at the dealers and shows, it has never recorded anything.
I rely on the service manual being stamped and an invoice for the detail and servicing evidence.

The mileage on the app varies by many thousands of miles ( its actually below 10k) and had it add 20K !
Then it reverts to accurate... rubbish tbh.

Unlike Richards experience it does record its last parking position accurately.. providing it has actually worked that day!
It will allow me to check the status of the car being locked or unlocked and can do that from the app.
I can switch the lights on and off via the app, and sound the horn...

All pretty useless in practicality, as to do so, you have to use a numerical password to do anything anyway, and it doesn't always accept the dedicated password!
The only bit that 'could' be useful.. is the alarm alert.. which notifies me via the app if the alarm has been triggered.
I tested that one... left missus in the car.. told her to wave her arms about and move and the alarm triggered on the app and I could switch it off..

All in all.. awful.. always has been, and seems to get worse with every so called 'update'.. something else breaks.

Worst of all.. when you want to complain about the app, they give you a link to a dead webpage and tell you to report it !

Considering Stellantis sell some very expensive cars these days, the way the 'dishonestly in my view) push the apps as positive in all their sales blurb, has to be misleading advertising.
They have never showed any interest in making them work..
EV users must 'suffer' far more than us ICE users.. but the salespeople still push it as if its a great thing!

If I keep the DS, I shan't be renewing the connect services & map updates - not if I have to pay for them.
DS give 3 years of them free... not the puny 12 months that they now give on Citroens..

The extended warranty though IS worth it...( in my view) Especially if you have a 1.2 puretech as is my DS4 !

Cheers
Steve
