I'm new on forum, but with old problems
I have 2004 2.0hdi xsara 66kW.
Latest problem is battery drain.
I had engine overheat after long waiting while stuck on border pass. When i drive, coolant temperature is about 80°c, but when i was stuck on that border, i got redlight warning and temperatures above 100.
Soon as i got home, i found out that fuse was broken, first one from left side, big one, i think 50A, below bsm in engine bay. I replaced it with new one, cooling vent started working again.
When i was replacing that fuse, i got idea to controll all other fuses on car. And i have noticed that another one was broken, in small fuse/relay box just right by solenoid valve which controlls egr.
I replaced that one too (there is only 2 of fuses, and 2 green relays).
But there i noticed that when i shutdown engine, that solenoid stays running for some time, so i suspect that there is my problem of battery draining. Sometimes it stops after few minutes, sometimes it takes longer to that solenoid stop working. And something else, do anyone here has connection diagram for that solenoid? Upper 2 pipes are connected, one on vacuum pump, second on egr valve, but bottom pipe is free. And when i press my finger onto it to close air sucking on it, solenoid turns off. So my question is, is it possible that solenoid kills battery in one night if it stays too long 'open' trying to shutoff, or i should look on 3 green relays of ac/cooling vent on radiator, because 2 electrians told me that if battery drain started after i change that fuse of radiator vent, there should be something with drain.... But my concern is still that why is down pipe on solenoid without any connection or something like some sort of plug on the end of it.
And yeah, my new battery is messed up after just day and a half in car with that ammount of drain (i put brand new 75ah 700A battery, tryed to drive 30mins, parked and didnt drive for a day and half). After it drained yesterday, i charged in on proffessional charger and picked it up today, tester said battery charged on 100%, on 12.5V, but it has only 370A power on tester
My second concern is xsara's typical fault - high beam position on indicator/lights handle behind wheel. When i switch to high beam, they shut off after few seconds back to low beam. If i put little pressure from myself onto handle, then they stay on high beam, but not always. Same thing is sometimes when i get in car, put key in ignition position, lights get on without i touched handle to turn lights on. I thaught that there is drain cause, but then i would see that lights got on when night goes on, car is below my window, i see it all night.
Thanks in advance!
