Quick summary, will update when I get chance:
Grey 308:
Left rear brake job completed: Hub nut 36mm, 300 Nm
Caliper carrier and guide pin bolts both 30 Nm then 35° angle tightened says Haynes (also states both are single use)
Reused but fresh thread lock compound.
Welding quickly brush painted, will grind welds back and paint properly soon.
Blue 308:
Wipers swapped (26 inch instead of standard 24 inch, Drivers and 16 in place of standard 18 inch passenger's. An experiment, seeking a reduced "triangle of doom"
Rear boot struts swapped. Boot end strut ball joints found to be corroded and severe pitting. Plenty of red rubber grease.
Hoping for a none creaky boot when off to the office tomorrow morning!

Might be worth asking this car is being broken for parts

Thanks Husky, I think I'm going to seek out (non-genuine!) new ones as the second hand ones may all be suffering from the same corrosion issues.Huskyxantia wrote: 15 Jun 2026, 12:09 Might be worth asking this car is being broken for parts

I'll pop a strut joint off again at time point and err, see how big my balls are
For the moment the boot is no longer graunching so the clean up and plenty of red rubber grease has bought me some time.
Blue 308 filled up:
490 miles covered,
£62.84, 159.9 ppl at Tesco Leigh.
= 39.3 l = 8.65 gallons
56.7 mpg.
Grey 308 delightfully free of brake grinding noises. Not ground the welds back yet but hopefully next weekend job.
Bathroom wall panelling sticking up,
Last full flag laid (3x2 IE 600x900x50mm = 64 kg!) from the drainage job.
Grass mowing done again.
IKEA rung up (as downstairs loo's tap I bought in November= chrome lifting!) and a replacement tap ready for me to pick up tomorrow. Pleased with that, hoping no need to call on the 10 year guarantee again!
