Remains to be seen, but she was pretty nonplussed by the other two so not expecting a huge reaction. Nor will she be in an unsupervised situation where she gets to decide otherwise. Last thing I need is to have to go crawling back to the maker to have damaged caused by an overly excited dog repaired.

Back to the "too many cameras" comment - this was basically the whole contents of my case last time I came back from the US. Actually the contents of my case AND backpack as the case was initially so heavy they wouldn't take it so we had to do some emergency reshuffling at check in.

Too many cameras.

I'd only gone looking to see if there were any Minolta AF lenses going spare!

If you ever wanted to browse said shop let me know! I can assure you that the prices would be very low. In fact I'd probably pay YOU to buy things from it!

Honestly I don't think anything there is really worth any real money as it's generally pretty run of the mill. The only exceptions are possibly that Argus range finder nearest to us as that's pretty old, and that bizarre quad lens Nishika thing, those apparently have quite a following and are actually worth good money as they're quite sought after. I'm never likely to do anything with it beyond maybe stick a film through it to confirm it works.

To be honest Zel, I now possibly have more cameras than I'll ever need! I already know, after buying up a load of spares/repairs cameras, most of which I've made work again, I have too many too although against that, I have enough now to last me a lifetime...

I have quite a few cameras collected over the years and will never use them again. Getting rid of them seems a shame and in time they could end up in a bin as nobody will want them.

I do have a couple that I really want to repair or have repaired at some point. There's a lovely Zeiss 120 which I'd love to actually use but has a sticky shutter. I absolutely don't trust myself to dismantle it as my history of reassembling mechanical things on that scale is one of uniform failure. Even when they've not sproinged into a thousand pieces when I first started taking them apart!

Only camera I've really put 120 film through before is a very basic little Ensign, and I was astonished at the definition from that compared to 35mm. Given how much better the optics in the Zeiss are than that it should perform well. If the shutter wasn't gummed up. One day maybe I'll get to it.

Whilst I'm reasonably comfortable with those sorts of mechanisms Zel, I'm only comfortable if they're mine and a failure to be able to fix it would not be the end of the world...

Finding someone who can though is getting ever more difficult these days...

I'd not really intended that to come across as a "please fix this!" But being absolutely honest Jim, there would be absolutely zero stress on it anyway. Worst case it ends up a display piece. As it is it's just going to spend the next 30 years sitting in a box anyway. It cost me all of about £10. Everything looks to be contained within the lens ring, I don't think you actually have to strip down the whole camera itself at all if my memory serves, though it has been a while since I looked at it.

As of tomorrow a major fleet milestone will hopefully be happening: The whole fleet will once again fit ON the driveway. Yes, the Renault is off to pastures new. It should have a pretty good shot at restoration though, the owner absolutely knowing what they're getting into. It'll be sharing the driveway with at least one Aventime, so it's a dedicated Renault fan that's buying it.

I'll be glad to not having it getting progressively more sad looking in front of my house, and to no longer have a car parked on the lawn. I'm sure the neighbours will appreciate seeing the back of it as well!

I'll miss it as it was a truly glorious thing to drive. However I will not miss the absolute faff of trying to get parts for the near extinct 2.0 injection variant. Would I have another 25? Honestly yes I probably would - but not a scruffy restoration project which needs a whole bunch of little bits and pieces sorted. I'd pay a bit more and just get one that's in decent shape. Probably just push the boat out and go for a V6 as well as let's face it, that was the engine it was always meant to have. Given how rare they are though it's likely to be a non issue anyway! Also it doesn't really tick any boxes not already covered by other fleet members so I'd struggle to justify even considering one at the moment anyway. Honestly it was a silly purchase when I bought it in the first place. Hopefully its fortunes with the next custodian will be better than just languishing outside my house.

On that basis Zel, I'd be happy to look at the camera but be aware it may be with me for a while... I have quite a lot in the queue currently and lacking in the full ability to reduce it... I'm keen to learn how to overhaul such a device...

Sad to see the Renault leaving you although I fully appreciate the reasons... Maybe really push that boat out and get an Avantime. That has a V6 and not just any old V6 - it has the Renault version of the good old ES9J4 or what they call the L7X... It is a beautiful engine...

Not so sure, that's well into the era of technological complexity where I'd be perpetually terrified of what was going to go wrong next. I would love one, not so sure I'd love actually living with it though!

Off she goes.

Definitely has a better shot at being revived where she's going than just sitting decaying on my driveway.

Sure the neighbours will be happy for us to no longer have a lawn ornament too.

They really do have a low profile. Even compared to quite a few of their contemporaries they're low cars.

It always feels a bit of a personal failure when a project car leaves in a worse state than it arrives, but sometimes you just need to accept that you aren't going to get to it and passing it on to someone else is the best thing to do.

And back in the day, they were considered big cars... Never fails to surprise me how small my AX is - especially when I loose it it a car park full of moderns
