3008 hybrid4 2013

Unread post by Pepe autotechnics »

Hi wonder if you could help, I have a Peugeot 3008 2L diesel hybrid 4 2013 and I have gearbox oil coming out of the breather pipe on the reduction gear, it has the correct oil Total 75w-80 and the correct amount 0.7 of a Litter after a run I get droplets of oil coming out of the breather pipe on the reduction gear, there are no faults in any hybrid ecu’s and the electric cooling motor works ok and battery fan for hybrid system and all the hybrid system works ok no noises and drives fine, any ideas why I am getting oil out of the breather??

Could you post a picture of the breather you are referring to? :)

Hi you can’t really see the breather it’s at the top of the reduction gear, you can only just see the pipe from the breather I will send you a pic of the reduction gear from diagbox!!

Mick I posted a photo of where the oil breather is, and that is where the oil is coming from on this 3008 hybrid4, a short rubber pipe attaches to the top of that breather and goes up above the reduction gear and oil weeps out of the rubber pipe, do you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate your help!!

I am afraid I am not the man for this as I have only ever had one hybrid, a Prius, and so know nothing about yours. However off the top of my head I wonder if the oil is getting overheated and expanding up the breather a bit? :)

Following on from Mick comment, rubber does deteriorate over time, especially when around oil, and as you car is 13+ years old, could the oil just be seaping through the rubber?
