C4 spacetourer stellantis

Unread post by CoronaCam »

Good evening

Due to exhaustingly vague and ambiguous information I would like to ask for people’s experience of the following:

Citroen C4 space tourers/picaso
Citroen C5 aircross

I was looking at the space tourer and was getting close to looking for final choice when I came across:

‘Stellantis wet belt’.

I had no knowledge of this so I am now in a situation where the vehicle I was looking at as perfect for five adults, may have a ticking countdown to self destruction.

Can anyone offer their experience and advice on owning one of these vehicles in relation to its problems?

I don’t want a vehicle that is going to cost me for a new engine if I’m unlucky with it.

It it is a struggle to find anything as fitting as the space tourer.

The dad in me really wants one.

Thanks for your time.

The wet belt is only fitted to the 1.2 Puretech engine. The diesels still use a conventional dry belt. However the 1.5 diesel from 2018 on also has a short cam chain in the head that is under spec and likes to break - there is an ongoing recall on it to up it to 8mm which is better. The 2.0 diesel is probably better, but auto only in the later ones, and they tend to be the high spec models that have a few other issues (like the electric boot struts which give out and are £300 a side....)

Thank you my friend. I’m finding a lot of bad news for this type of car. I had no idea the engines had so much trouble.

If the 1.5 Hdi engine has had the 8mm chin conversion then there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Later cars have engines with an 8mm chain as standard.
