Re: Falcon's Bargain Basement Motoring
Having disposed of the Micra, and the Clio soon to be moved on, the Falcon Bargain Basement has only one remaining occupant, the Alizarin Crimson Leaf with the Shiny Ears, fully paid for and occupying the second car motoring for pleasure role, as well as the first reserve should it be needed to cover for the rest of the family fleet. Van like duties and light haulage too may well be taken on but perhaps with a little more care and attention than required for the Micra's finest hours on trips to the sawmill, just to preserve the upholstery!

Alazarian Crimson reminds me of a Donovan song.Thought it was Sand And Foam but wrong again, "Wear Your Love Like Heaven"

Didn't know Donovan's surname was Leitch until I saw the credits on the song!

He used to sing on the beach in Whitby in the sixties, town was packed with beatniks and hippies back then, goths now.
Never knew though, not until much later.

Spot on Gary. With your thread coming to a conclusion and the Clio now behaving itself as it should, I think in fine FCF tradition, we should acknowledge the contribution of the assembled throng with their knowledge and assists, but modestly pat ourselves on the back for delivering the goods bringing a "sorted" (er...maybe too much...let's say "a sorted for now") conclusion to our respective threads!

Re: Falcon's Bargain Basement Motoring
The Bargain Basement Clio has been moved on. Strangely enough the cliche "First to see will buy" has proved to be accurate on this occasion. I got quite a surprise when the little video message came through from my daughter, showing the Clio being driven off by the new owner!
Left up to me...with the ad in the paper shop approach, I'm sure the sale process would have dragged on for ages.

Re: Falcon's Bargain Basement Motoring
The remaining Falcon Bargain Basement vehicle, with an eye on what a prospective purchaser may expect, has finally had a DIY job done on the malfunctioning touch screen which would only correctly select options at the lefthand side of the screen.
Never having used the sat nav/charging timer or other features I have just put up with it for a number of years. The fix is well documented but I have only just got round this very day to sorting it out. I think buyers should it get moved on would expect the touch screen to be working, and the DIY fix today was around £30 all told.
Back in 2022 I was researching doing a DIY job on the touchscreen but never got round to it!

Finally got round to doing it today Mick!, the short blow by blow account its here.mickthemaverick wrote: 18 Nov 2022, 10:26 So does this indicate a straightforward "Don't care enough to be bothered" or a reluctance to dismantle the electronic parts of the car for fear of making things worse?![]()
