I know what you mean Jim, also wonder how much social media rubbish has effect the minds of people too. Youtube now I've noticed so much hate stuff on there, reason , it gets views I guess, I steer away from it we all know who's behind it all and the sad thing is one person can kick them all out of power but he won't, anyway I didn't even bother watching his speech of christmas day , its all rubbish

Re: Peugeot 207 1.6hdi (New edition to the fleet)
So , ive replaced the rear shocks , and have noticed a noise from the rear left, sounds plastic , a knock , thats the only way I can describe it , not all the time just driving over rough surfaces, my gut tells me on of the bushes on these shocks on the rear left might have wear , ive checked and double checked any and everything plastic to the rear , nothing unusual there, If it not a bush on the shock I hope the actual dowl the bolt goes though isn't to big , tbh I didn't thing to check before fitting as the weather wasn't to good ,being the time of day and year , I just wanted the old ones off and new ones in, here's another thing the one I thought was gone wasn't as bad as the side I thought was good ! So I can cope with it as its not all the time and ive not much driving to do for now , so next dry spell I will have a look , just undoing a job thats been done is a nuisance, but its a simple one so thats one blessing, update will follow once this weather improves .

Does it have this arrangement at top of the rear dampers? (Alloy housing with a bush in it, pictured is the grey 308 SW's items)Huskyxantia wrote: 09 Jan 2026, 08:49 So , ive replaced the rear shocks , and have noticed a noise from the rear left, sounds plastic , a knock , thats the only way I can describe it , not all the time just driving over rough surfaces, my gut tells me on of the bushes on these shocks on the rear left might have wear , ive checked and double checked any and everything plastic to the rear , nothing unusual there, If it not a bush on the shock I hope the actual dowl the bolt goes though isn't to big , tbh I didn't thing to check before fitting as the weather wasn't to good ,being the time of day and year , I just wanted the old ones off and new ones in, here's another thing the one I thought was gone wasn't as bad as the side I thought was good ! I have a theroy about sizes and how the top was harder to push into its housing to how easy the bottom fittment was.
Im thinking bottom might have slight movement which is causing the noise , I'm going to check the rear spring on that side too ,once the weather allows me too

Re: Peugeot 207 1.6hdi (New edition to the fleet)
Update, found the source of this knock , its not the new shock , when the car was jacked up and wheels chocked I decided to let the hand brake off , the passenger rear was locked on so I gave it a tap and the wheel spun freely as I grasp the drum ... hello knocky knock knock, its from the brake set up , its getting stuck , so will need a good clean whe I have time , there's no feeling of the hand brake staying on when you drive and it comes off once the wheel is turned , something touching, shoe to drum id say.

Interesting. Hopefully a cheap fix (wire brush and copper grease in a few key spots) just need the weather to be kind!

I had that problem on a 206 Husky... I found the brake shoe friction material had detached from the shoe!
As you say Matt, let's have some kind weather It's looking a bit more promising this coming week

It still drives with no problems and the noise can be shut out by the radio on a good station lol

Sorry drum maximum inside diameter or shoe friction material thickness?Huskyxantia wrote: 11 Jan 2026, 18:52 Anyone know the thickness the brake drum should be ? Untill they need new ones ?
Sorry I haven't a book of lies for 207, if they've carried over same drum setup as the 206 uses, then here's the figures from Haynes:
306 has
New 180mm to max 181mm or Bendix new 228.6 to max 230 mm
Shoes new 4.85 mm to minimum 1.5 mm

I'd say the 2.0L is same size as the 1.6 , thanks Matt

Re: Peugeot 207 1.6hdi (New edition to the fleet)
I'd guess so, sorry I should have explained: that 206 manual only covers the earlier ones, so predates the 1.6 diesel existing (was only the 2.0 HDi and 1.9 DW8 engines back then, can't recall if that manual covers the 1.4 HDi engine or not)
