Facebook marketplace Mick. I'm not sure if I can share a link, hang on I'll check
Argh! Keeps wanting to jump into the Facebook App and strangely there is no "share" that j can see there.

Does this link work?

Thanks for the info Matt. I'm afraid I won't test the link as I do not allow anything 'facebook' on my devices at all. I'm sure it will interest others though!! :-D

I tried the link Mick :) Blimey that's some crazy mixed up range of stuff, might try some of my redundant workshop tools and parts on there, never looked at it before.

This would be a candidate for my 'classic with no overheads' plan as it will be Tax and MOT exempt next year, however it has one of those pesky clutch things!! :-D

Oh yes, Facebook Marketplace is very much "buyer beware". Adverts are free which does seem to result in adverts sometimes placed by someone with the very merest enthusiasm to produce an advert! Quite inadvertently entertaining at times!

Anyway having shown me one slightly shonky old P4, here's another at less than half the price of the last - this one is just £500! Very much a project from the images. Who knows how bad it is, but don't forget "ran when parked**"

Spoiler: show

Here you go Mick, sorry it's Facebook again but an alternative to the Golf above with additional bigger boot and (importantly for yourself) subtraction of that third pedal. And actually addition of an extra 1781 - 1272 = 509 cc and a good chunk cheaper (Gosh, I hadn't spotted the Golf was five grand!)

That will still need MOT and Tax for a couple of years Matt so not what I'm after although looks a nice car for the money!! I won't dig deeper as you know but just from your image I see it is only a couple of junctions along the M66 from you so maybe? :-D

Ah yes, true enough it's a little longer to trip over the 40 year threshold, good point.

Yes the search results come back local-ish to me, so yes it's in Darwen so not far away at all.

Looking closer at the pictures it's got no drivers exterior door handle, easy enough to fix but seems odd, to me, not to have mentioned it!

Shame the 205GTi is missing its foglights :( They are a bit rarer than unobtanium nowadays so perhaps a pragmatic solution to a problem. Unless they're just covers?

No further interest in any such now. My children have made off with any money I might have had for such frivolities

Just black plastic covers Jim, don't think it's the original fog lamps + covers, but some about the right size aftermarket jobs.

£3500 is pretty cheap for a 205 GTi nowadays, isn't it? :)

Yes, indeed it was Matt... Someone potentially had a good result there :D

Yes I agree, depending on how well the welding jobs were completed (sills and new boot floor mentioned)

Maybe more "retro" than "Classic" and a fair bit off the desired 40 year threshold, but something unusual and lacking the third pedal:
White Hen
White Hen
Don't think I have ever seen one of these "in the flesh"
:)
