Re: Any way to get around ‘Economy Mode’?
After you have done the global scan you should be able to click on each ECU that is showing faults and it should expand and give you a list. Clicking on each fault should then give more details. If you double click on the ECU then it will take you into that ECU where you can then click on read faults for full details.
If you go into the BSI, then activation tests, you should be able to find the windows somewhere.

I’ll try and get some screenshots later this evening.wurlycorner wrote: 26 Nov 2025, 14:29 Taking photo's of the screen and posting them on the forum, is the simplest way with diagbox, I find.
[We’re down to one working car at the moment and the boss works about 50 kilometres away from home - and she won’t drive a manual car, anyway. My poor 406 is clocking up the kilometres at a great pace, with reduced compression in two cylinders because of leaking copper gaskets between the injectors and the cylinder head. I’d drive back home and get those screenshots done, and the detail of the various faults, now if the car was in better condition. I don’t think it’s doing much good driving around with those two leaking cylinders.]

What engine is in the 3008? Does it still crank?

It doesn't crank.
It's a 2.0 HDi Turbo Diesel. Would it be an RHH engine? I can provide the VIN if that helps. VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Put ignition in on, Jump the starter to crank while giving it a snort of Easy start, if it fires you are half way there. It might also unlock from economy mode

Re: Any way to get around ‘Economy Mode’?
I've just spent about 2 hours getting screenshots on this ancient laptop. I already hate Windows. Now when I go to open the document, all I see is a bunch of paragraph marks. I'm not dealing with this again tonight/this morning.

Oh by photo's I meant literally taking a photo of the screen with smartphone, rather than screenshots.

Re: Any way to get around ‘Economy Mode’?
So if it won't crank, then either the starter has failed, the wire to it has given up, the BSM has thrown in the towel, the fuse is blown, or there is some reason the ECU is not switching the starter on - is it an auto? Always assuming that it isn't just a flat battery! So most you can diagnose without the computer.
Starter on a 2.0 is easily accessible down the front of the engine.
1st, Check it's in neutral, then short the two big terminals on the starter with a screwdriver to see if it cranks. This will rule out the motor part, or indicate a wiring or motor fault. If the ignition is in the run position, it should start if it will crank.
Assuming it will crank, then check whether you are getting 12V on the exciter wire when the key is turned to crank. If not, try running a bypass direct off the battery and see if it will crank.
If no voltage, find the starter fuse and check it (actually I would do that first...). Check that you get 12V on both sides when the key is in crank position. If you do, but no voltage at the motor, then broken wire or BSM fault. If you don't then off to the diag tool to see if it is giving the start signal.

Yes it's an RHH. I've corrected your VIN so that the forum software works properly obscuring it.ozfrog wrote: 27 Nov 2025, 11:34It's a 2.0 HDi Turbo Diesel. Would it be an RHH engine? What did I do incorrectly with the VIN?Paul-R wrote: 27 Nov 2025, 18:37 Yes it's an RHH. I've corrected your VIN so that the forum software works properly obscuring it.
Unfortunately, yes.RichardW wrote: 27 Nov 2025, 18:30 … or there is some reason the ECU is not switching the starter on - is it an auto?
Although I’m not sure if there’s any difference between the two positions in the transmission itself, before I called roadside assistance, I did attempt starting the car in both neutral and park positions on the selector lever, a few times. Roadside service did the same thing when they arrived, and I have tried it since the car has been at home.
I’m still working my way through the items in the other post(s).
Cheers,
Andrew

You typed it in as starting with the letter 'U' and it should have been a 'V'.

Re: Any way to get around ‘Economy Mode’?
It's been 18 months or so since I looked at my Diagbox, but if my memory serves me right, once you have completed the Global test, look for a printer icon (top right?) That will print all the faults as a xml file, then search web to xml file viewer, then print.ozfrog wrote: 26 Nov 2025, 13:11 ......Now, I performed a global test and unsurprisingly, there are multiple errors, but I can't get the software to give me details about the faults, plus I've forgotten how to get the messages to print to a file. I did what I thought was the correct method - and it promptly crashed Diagbox with a Run Time error. So I had to redo all of the Gloabal Tests and I still can't remember how to get the detailed information about each item that has an error next to it, and nor can I remember how to print these report to a files.

I think I did pretty much what you wrote. My only problem was the Run Time Error and I couldn’t find an explanation.
