[RT6 RNEG2] Request for software / firmware

Hello,

I have a Peugeot 3008 150 allure (2014) with the RT6 (RNEG2) head unit.
My problem:
Screen is completely black,
No sound,
The CD drive tries to load/eject every 10 seconds.

After research, the previous owner has replaced internal microSD card with a blank microSD card.
I would like to recreate a new SD card directly on my PC with a full RT6 2.86B .img dump.

Could anyone please share this complete image, or guide me where I can find it?
Plus I can't find anywhere the correct RNEG2 RT6 2.86B r1 firmware, any help would be appreciated.

Now you've got me confused. As I understood it the RNEG system was made by Harman Becker. It was also known as MyWay / WIPNAV and uses firmware with release numbers that look like R29.01. The RT6 / eMyWay / WIPNAV+.
The RT6 is also known as RNEG2 / WIPNAV+ and is made by Magneti Marelli. The firmware has versions with release numbers like 2.77. 2.80 etc.
There is no such animal as an RT6 RNEG.

Thanks Paul, and yes — that’s exactly my understanding too.
My unit is the Magneti Marelli RT6 (RNEG2 / WipNav+) system, not the older RNEG / MyWay.

I recently replaced the internal microSD because the original one failed, so now I’m trying to reinstall the firmware from USB to get the system working again. I’m specifically looking for the 2.86B firmware suitable for the RT6 / RNEG2 system.

If anyone can point me to a download source or provide the correct package that includes the HEADUNIT and DATA folders and the upgrade.lgu file for USB installation, that would be really appreciated.

Cheers Mick — I’ve checked the ISO image and it appears to be for the RNEG / MyWay (WipNav) system rather than the Magneti Marelli RT6 (RNEG2 / WipNav+) unit that I have, unfortunately.

Really appreciate you taking the time to help though — if you happen to know anyone who might have the 2.86B firmware for the RT6 / RNEG2, I’d be very grateful for a pointer.

It was because that link had an image of the Magneti Mirelli CD at the top I assumed the V2.86 software they were linking to was for that system!! I'll keep my eyes and ears open but don't hold your breath!!

Yeah, totally get you. The only reason I initially thought it was the right one was because the link had the Magneti Marelli RT6 CD image at the top, so I assumed the v2.86 software being linked matched that system.

The really confusing part is that both platforms (RNEG and RNEG2/RT6) have updates labelled “2.86”, but the internal contents are completely different — which is why people (me included!) sometimes get caught out.

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to check. I’ll keep digging!

No, a true RNEG has firmware updates of the type referenced above. It NEVER has an update of 2.86.

There is a lot of lazy information out there where people either don't know the difference, or don't care, and perpetuate the mistake that RNEG covers RNEG 2. The link that Mick has found does exactly that in the documentation. It's for RNEG 2, not RNEG. I suspect it will be the same as the link I PM'd to you.

Thanks for the links. I’ve had a look at the RT6 2.86 USB software folder and the contents are:

Application / Data_Base / db_dwnl_ppc / SIRF / UPG / BootRom.sym / CD.inf / Config.inf

From what I’ve read that looks more like the RNEG/MyWay structure, whereas I was expecting the RT6/RNEG2 package with HEADUNIT, DATA and upgrade.lgu for USB install.

Have I misunderstood something there, or is there another RT6/RNEG2 package I should be using?

This chart may help with some understanding.

You may be looking for something that doesn't exist. The top chart suggests that your 3008 has a CAN 2004 system and doesn't show an upgrade path to 2.86. It may be out of date as my C5 is showing as belonging there as well and it most definitely has 2.86 installed. Having said that the car had a new RT6 fitted in 2016 under warranty. It's possible that an update to 2.86 is something only the manufacturers can do.

The part number showing for 2.86 in the lower chart appears to be the same as the link that Mick found on the Internet Archive.
