Some pictures from when I went digging into my non- functional GPS aerial on my 2016 308 SW. Didn't see any likely aerial amplifier candidates but hope the images could be useful.

Pretty sure that the base contains electronics. The similar shaped one on top of my 2001 Xsara had electronics inside when i had to replace it after water got inside and it stopped working.

I believe that there are different ones internally depending on whether it's just for GPS or also includes AM/FM reception and possibly, a different one again if there're electronics for DAB reception. Basically, if there's a stubby aerial, it's just GPS but if there's a longer whip then it's also for the radio. Whether that includes DAB I just don't know.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Yes that's my understanding too Paul, electronics for all three inside that base. Three separate "fakra" connectors come out of it - one for each function (which is great as it allowed me to plug in a cheap GPS aerial to one connection to substitute for the dead one integral to the aerial itself. The DAB and FM functions still served by the original multifunctional aerial :)
