does anyone know where i can find the original flash files of the ECU and BSI that the car came with when it was new, i want to re-program the eeprom
Be careful of the above link. These guys tend to be insular, arrogant and tend to tear noobs a new @$$. Just saying...be careful.
Couldn't agree more about that ecufiles.net!
I emailed these people last night and their response was ultra quick.
They have files for Xantia on their site for 20 Euros for flash file, 20 Euros for EEPROM or 20 Euros for both!!!!
So I asked rather politely if they would provide virgin procedure instructions after detailing what my issue is (as I have earlier detailed in a post to you this evening) and they said that the fault codes needed erasing from EEPROM. Cost 50 Euros!
So I questioned it. Tone changed immediately. They said I should go and use someone who charges 20 Euros at my own risk. When I then sent them a link to show they were selling original files at 20 Euros, they said that they were original and not virgin! Well what's the bloody difference? No explanation other than professional users buy the 20 Euro files.
I think they are bullshitters and possibly scam artists - who knows? Or perhaps more likely they were trying it on. If an original file is not the same as a virgin file then what is it? It cannot be programmed to another car can it?
Or am I not understanding this properly?
I really hope you can offer some more advice.
HDI-Tuning.co.uk offer files for £10 or £12.99 depending. I've just watched one of their YouTube videos. Seem genuine and straight.
I hope you can advise further on my other request of you.
I have backups of bin files for flash and EEPROM so what is the worst that can happen to the ECU? If I brick it then surely I just rewrite backed up file?
