I look at the motor today and saw this liquid around this area… is that oil or diesel? Any guess where look for a leak?

Probably engine oil. I had similar pools of oil and it came from the cam cover to cylinder head joint. I had it fixed at the same time I had the timing belt, tensioners, etc changed.
You don't say what engine you have fitted but it's a not uncommon fault with the 1.6 BlueHdi diesel engine.
