Peugeot Boxer gearbox capacity

Unread post by Mikdb »

Can anyone tell me the oil capacity of the gearbox on my Boxer motorhome. There is no level plug, just drain and fill. I want to change the oil. The VIN No is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] Thanks.

2.4 Litres for just a drain & refill or 2.7 Litres if its a dry gearbox or overhaul.

I have had this before on modern stuff
I drain the oil then measure it in a jug and put back the exact about of new oil

Is the filler not also the level?

The only problem is you dont know if the level was correct in the first place, Could have had a clutch or gearbox repair done done & the previous person working on it never put enough in or even overfilled it.

These gearboxes are filled via the breather on the top of the box.

Hi can i put an additional query n this thread?
I have a 2014 (2013 manufacture) Boxer 2.2 130 with a manual 6 speed box. I wish to change gearbox oil to see if it improves slightly notchy gear changes when on sustained long hot runs (no notchiness when cold or normal driving) in case there is water ingress.
Trouble is there seems to be a lot of conflicting info on refill quantity depending on type of box.
My gearbox has the almost flat steel end cover, is it an MLUC or a MGLU they have different quantities for each? and which oil, is Total Traxium Gear 8 GL4 PSA B71 2330 correct
I also found the stampings on the gearbox:
20GP15
0489232
2.91
Got the attaching photo sorted with help from forum admin team, thanks.

Any help appreciated

This information from viewtopic.php?p=790637#p790637

ML6CGearbox casing without finsGearbox casing with fins
Drain and refill2,6 litres1,9 litres
After overhaul2,8 litres2,2 litres

ML6C Gearbox with fins will look like this:

And without fins like in beelag's post above.

The correct oil is 75/80 and must be GL4 spec, not GL5.
