Looking for a safe version firmware

Unread post by lucho65 »

Hello everyone,

My RT6 (Peugeot 807 HDi 2.0, motortype RHD, year 2013) suddenly stopped working from one day to the next: no radio, no screen, no navigation, no parking sensors, CD player keeps searching for a disc every 10 seconds, ...

After searching this forum, I understand that this is often caused by a failed microSD card. I honestly didn’t even know there was such a card inside the unit! Until now I never had any problems with the RT6.

Because the screen stays completely black (there is a backlight though), I can’t make any backup with MiraScripts. I also have no idea which firmware version my car/unit was running before it failed.

I suppose I will need to prepare a new microSD card with the correct firmware, but I don’t know which version is required for my car. Is there any way to check the correct firmware version using the VIN code? If not, I would like to try with a “safe” version that generally works for these units.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hopefully one of our RT6 knowledgeable members will see your post and be able to help. :)

If the RT6 has never been updated then the version installed at the factory may be written on the label stuck on to the case.

I don't see the version on the unit.

Any idea what would be a good version to use?

Sadly, you're right. I can't see it there either. I did say "maybe"!

Trying to decide what's fitted is a bit of a lottery, you should have a fairly late version I would have thought. I suppose that the only version that can be guaranteed not to conflict is the very latest, 2.86, as this will simply update earlier versions. However, installing 2.86 is not without its own risks as it can introduce echoing in Bluetooth telephone conversations, amongst other things. This can be fixed using Mirascripts (although I don't know how) or a visit to a dealer for them to download a configuration file from the servers in Paris. They will charge for this.

If you decide to try 2.86 I can provide a link for that. Be aware that a hardware failure is quite likely NOT to be fixed with a firmware update.

Thanks for the swift responses.
I've read in the forum that version 2.86 could be initiating some issues. I guess this could be in case the 2.86 version is not the one that was on the corrupted sd-card/fit for my car.
I was thinking to try an older version first like 2.7x - just to get my radio and parkingsensors back to life. And later - after further 'research' - upgrade to newer version if necessary.
Or is this not the way these things work?

I have versions 2.77, 2.80 and 2.85 as well but these are ISOs and I doubt the CD reader is up to it from your description. You'll have to extract the contents of the ISO onto a pen drive.

Thx for the offer. There a few other Peugeot 807 drivers in our town. I will ask if they have the same version of the car/year/motortype/ and, if so, ask them to check their RT6 firmware version. I'll get back to you later.

Hey Paul, my fellow citizens driving a Peugeot807/C8 unfortunately do not have a similar system as mine.
So I would like to try the 2.77 version. Can you direct me to an link/webpage please?

I got the necessary equipment (pen drive + micro-usb card).

thx in advance.
