Re: 206cc to a 308cc How ? Why ? Everything 308cc
So today after some fun braking and some wonderful scoring sounds ive decided to service the breaks . All are ok apart from near side front
Im using red grease, big socket small chisel to break off crusty rusty stuff, my manol brake cleaner spray an old top to wipe stuff with and a spare couple of hours to tinker with this car , plus an omg moment, wish bone and drop link set up compared to the 207 ! Which is in the list of photos, the 308cc has bags of room so im now wondering if the 207 has wring ones on it ? Must see if I have old photos of the grey 207 I had the other year.
I cleaned the heck out of the rusty crud , flattened back the metal and then what I though was black smooth harremerite turns out to be park bench dark green ! Well I don't car aslong as it does what it does I'm all fine with it.

Nice work Husky although I can't say I'm too keen on the green calipers!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I got the tin in a box of odd bits at a boot sale for a couple of pounds, I thought it was black but turns out it wasn't. Still when it wears and gets dirty it won't be so bad ,least it should keep the rust at bay. I would never go for the colour myself but it was to hand

Needs a set of these upgraded pads to go with it!
https://www.ebcbrakeshop.co.uk/pages/in ... brake-pads

I've come across the caliper carrier bolts being hex or T55 (and mega torque so a good test of the torx bit - I've snapped a few on this very bolt loosening task!
But caliper bolts (those into slider with the red rubber grease on your pictures) I e only seen 13mm hex bolts, never anything else as yet
Good job, think the green looks smart

That snapping sound when the bits give up is a sound that is its own individual noise that make the heart sink

Ive had older cars with much less rust build up on the braking components which is a bit on the worring side as to why a younger car seems to look like the way it did when undertaken this little job .

I'm sure I read something about a different kind of road salt/grit being deployed nowadays and that this sticks to cars (and instigates the corrosion)
Also suspect cars rust protection is being made a bit more "cost effective" scaled back a touch from the levels of protection seen in say late eighties to early ninety's cars. But maybe that's me being cynical!

Re: 206cc to a 308cc How ? Why ? Everything 308cc
So yesterday using the 308cc it was normal, then driving back home came a noise from the driver side front one moment it sound like front susoenleg area m then it sounded like under the sump area , i stopped safely and checked , didn't see anything that looked out of the norm. Got back in the car turned wheel right as pulling away and it sounded like I'd drove over something lose, so when I got home I did what im not meant to be doing at the moment, got down on the ground and looked under the car , only thing I found was corner to corner of the under trays have lost the bits that join them together and they are lose , I then thought oh it might be this knoking and slapping around at certain degrees of driving, so later today it's cable tie time ! Hopefully it is this causing it.

Re: 206cc to a 308cc How ? Why ? Everything 308cc
Well we'll well
Cable ties .. well , went out today had some things to sort medications and some food stuffs , then popped to a couple of rather nice little villages and walked a steady .? 5 miles ! Yes it did hurt but it was nice to take in some autumn air and colors.. Driving home , clatter rattle bonk ..... oh God
So I drove steady every rise of the car was met with rattle clank matalic sound ,my head was working over time , gearbox, fly wheel , dpf , cat, steering rack , so to ease my mind I drove to my mot station spoke to the old chap who's run this place for 40 yr and he put it up on the ramps,
He pointed out a couple of jobs to do so it won't fail it's mot, lower ball joint dust cover big tear, off side, and the gaiter on my drive shaft has lost its clamp !
The cause of the noise was found . It was a large pebble it was wedged in the anit roll bar lower link to stabiliser bar . Driving back home , no noise at all , What a relief
