Swap heater control panel 1993 XM Y3; how?

Unread post by lochraceness »

Hallo all! I have a 1993 XM 2,1td Y3 that needs a heater control panel swap and I wonder if someone who know how this should be done can point me in the right direction as of how it shall be done?

I have another complete unit that is going in, but I am afraid to break an awful lot of plastic if I go 'all in' without knowing how it shall be done.

Any relevant replies are most welcome!!! Thanks :-)

Kind regards, lochraceness

I only have experience of the Y4 XM, but the heater panels are interchangeable so...

With a wide bladed tool like a plastering spatula, you can lever out the bottom edge of the heater panel, and once the clips have released it just comes out.

Thank you very much for your reply, that is great information!

I will try to do exactly as you say! I do not recall any clips on the spare part though, but I'll give it a go. Thanks :-)

On my car, it was unfortunately quite different from this; I have removed quite a bit and it now looks like this:

The question is what to do with these 3 (was 4, but they become 3 before my time) plastic angles... I can cut them off and glue them on later, but I do not want to... Is it very much job and time consuming to lift off the whole panel? What would you have done and why?
