2012 c4 picasso 1.6hdi abs ecu swop
Will be changing my abs ecu in near future as still can't clear p1391 fault , have the the number off diagbox, for pump unit, but ecu software reference module doesn't bring up anything, can find loads of pumps with right number but they are mostly earlier models and mine is post 2010 as seen on screenshot, is there a part number for my control module, or do I need to remove mine and look for stamped number on module

I do not know for sure but I suspect you'll need to look on your own module to get the right info.

Just another quick one ,from my searches it appears that I can leave abs pump in place and just remove ecu without any clutch fluid leakage, is it that simple?(other than access!)

Yes, the ABS ECU can be replaced separately without disturbing the hydraulic circuit & pump.

Was it a new ABS ECU?

Did you clear the fault after replacing the ECU?

Yep ,programmed abs ecu(was identical other than had to change from grand picasso to c4 picasso), cleared fault several times ,still same single fault ....

Maybe this link could give you a fresh idea: https://www.autocodes.com/c1391.html

Had a look ,all very generic non citroen specific, have crawled the worldwide web and this fault on its own is so non specific without other codes which generally cause it

Re: 2012 c4 picasso 1.6hdi abs ecu swop
I had this fault which turned out to be spurious.
The actual fault was a leaking boost hose (totally unrelated to the ABS) but possibly caused by the P0100 fault which interrupted comms with the ABS ECU.
I guess the point I’m making is that although you have the C1391 code, the issue may be nothing to do with your ABS and a “side-effect” of another issue.

Occasionally, I actually understand what I’m doing, however, now is not one of those times!

Yep agree and know that , but I have no apparent second fault to trigger it, and it's possible that something is not working properly but not triggering a fault which is frustrating to find

Okay, since you have no other faults, I think you’re into checking harness plugs and connectors for corrosion/ continuity, particularly between the ECU and ABS ECU.
I say this because having changed the ABS ECU, the fault remains and can’t be reset, so you’re looking at something which is common to both ABS ECUs.
