C3 Oil Filter

Unread post by Gambit »

Having changed my oil filter today , Im not in she who must be obeyed's good books!

I just pumped 2-3 lt of oil all over the drive. Because I missed the fact the filter cover needs a hard push to start it screwing home. I must have got it cross threaded because id did it up to 25 Nm.

Who ever designed the filter access needs replacing, the only way I could see was to take 2 air ducts off and then take the top hose off the radiator, its still tight but you can just get it in with some persausion

Any body else got a better way?

I believe that is one of the real headaches with that engine, with any luck someone with more direct tknowledge of it will be along and maybe offer a work round :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

If the same as our 1.6 hdi Cactus I manage without having to remove a radiator hose but some things do need removing.
