Yep, that was in my mind as I wrote it - as well as our ever more rapid apparent descent into a dystopian world...

I'm just hoping my granddaughter's generation wake up to it and reverse the trend... Knowing many members of her generation (Gen Alpha and the new Gen Beta) I remain ever confident the fall into the abyss will not happen

If I could have infected Jim with a virus it would have been an anti-virus virus, genetically engineered to permanently return him to great health! Anyway, I am too big to use an AX; it would end up leaning towards the driver side (which would break the suspension)!

A bit of car therapy yesterday Bluebell was woken from her slumbers to check her over ready for Chevrons at the weekend She's fine but in checking I find Strawberry has a very minor oil leak and this I'll be dealing with when I'm fit enough. It's so tiny as to be almost insignificant but my absolute hatred of any leaks from cars will see it fixed soonest.

Strawberry is looking nice and clean as she was washed last week and has not been driven since. In fact I have not driven for over a week now and very unlikely to for the foreseeable as I'm not fit to whilst my ears continue to be troublesome. My current unstable balance, dizziness and general brain fogginess is not compatible with driving at all With shopping delivery services and almost everything within easy walking distance I can live fairly happily without driving for a while. Currently, I can't ride my bike either for the same safety reasons. That's a bigger issue for me than not being able to drive...

A while back, Mick found me some very nicely priced (Amazon returns going by the label) seat covers for Bluebell - intended to protect her rather delicate original upholstery. I trial fitted one and they look good

And, as a bonus, fitting these seat coves gives her airbags!!!

They'll be coming off for Chevrons so that I can show her with her proper upholstery. Then I'll fit them and there they will stay until the next show. They're quite east to slip on an off.

I'm now looking for a similar set with red trim for Strawberry to protect her equally delicate Alcantara upholstery...

See how you go with those seat covers, I had some years back but found them quite "hot/sticky" when the weather was warm. Not a very breathable, synthetic fabric

I knew a lady who had an ax and she had something similar before the ax it was older and the spare wheel lived engine bay area, it was a 1.4 diesel and it would keep cutting out she got me to look it over as she was a friends friend ( older than me ) I found the problem a wire on the solenoid to the fuel pump was almost snapped(so I renewed it )and when it moved in a certain way it would shut the engine down. With that in mind I set up a switch so it then was a cheap immobiliser, switch placed where she only knew where it was. When she sold it she said the new keeper was impressed it could be imoblized, she then got a little blue ax petrol and I used to she her driving around all over In the little thing, when I asked what she thought of it she said she missed the diesel one she had before but was falling in love with the ax as each day passed, 20 yrs went by and the ax was still going , and after she passed away the car went to a family member and they ran it for another 7 yrs before just taking it of the road . I don't drive that way any more so don't know if it's still around but thinking back how she did get some great use out of the ax , even going to the med several years in a row too. Such a nice family they were but with a sad life path , I always thought she looked happiest when she was driving her little Ax.

Can't be any worse than my current seat protector in Strawberry for when I travel to and from a run wearing shorts and covered in suncream - a puppy training pad!

I'm sure suncream would do her seat fabric no good at all...

Not sure Jim, if you're exuding SPF 100 into the fabric it could even preserve it!

I'm pleased to report that all three things affecting my health and wellbeing are now almost resolved

Yesterday, for the first time in ages I ran 3 miles - albeit slowly - and cycled 17 miles It doesn't seem much prima-facie but going from being almost unable to walk on Wednesday with a cripplingly bad back, it's seriously good progress

I really must sort out her rear bumper! This photo really shows up how bad it is. All it needs is a coat of paint and I have what I need in stock... I must get some underseal applied to her too...

Bluebell will not be SORN'd after all. I've just renewed her insurance for another year...

Good to hear that you're on the mend in time for Chevrons Rally weekend Jim Hope the weather is kind to everyone there ....

Unfortunately I will have to pass - the Xantia is partialy repaired, the compression fittings seem to work OK - still took me most of the day to do 2 segments, one of the olives and nuts appear faulty as the nut wont thread up tight. I had intended to replace segments of all 3 3.5mm lines (2 appeared to have blown at the same time ) but the final segment will have to wait until I obtain a replacement fitting and hence will need to stay local as visually it is very narrowed and near death

The rear pipe tray is now a poor fit due to the pipes being slightly misaligned and deeper even though I planned the fittings to avoid the clip in points.

The 4.5mm also needs repair but at the moment I can't find a supplier of compression fittings.

I'm actually quite shocked that Jim didn't resort to training wheels/stabilisers on his push bike..... he's getting lazy..... As for black plastic bumper discolouration may I recommend 'green stuff'. It's similar to what they put on tyres to look new, works a treat. When is the Chevrons? NVM just seen the date I might attend and surprise you!!
