Incredibly, the owner's manual for my recently acquired Peugeot makes no mention of what specification of oil to use. Can anyone direct me to genuine information about the oil requirements for a:
March 2006 Peugeot 307cc, 2.0i 16V petrol (143hp).
Thanks in advance.

This would be my choice as I trust the supplier:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Which oil for 307cc?
Eight different oils. What I need is info from Peugeot that gives oil type and what grade, etc. The sort of info that used to be in an owner's manual.
It seems that there is a lot of disagreement on this topic. Various sources can't agree if 5w30 or 5w40 is correct for this engine. And semi-officially either Elf or Total products are approved, but some of the recommendations turn out to be for diesels, not petrol. Therefore I would like to find an exact spec published by Peugeot so I don't make the wrong choice.

Re: Which oil for 307cc?
The older Citroens we had, the oil spec was in the Maintenance and Warranty booklet, on newer ones it was on a sheet of paper called the service schedule. To get the latest spec you would be best to ask at your nearest dealer for a print out of the service schedule which includes the oil spec. You could also look in this topic against your engine type (found in the letters in the vin) but beware it is not being kept up to date viewtopic.php?t=75919
