85' 305 SRD

It doesn't look all that bad apart from the split tailgate.
A couple of T Cut sessions should improve it.[:)]

The rear wheels, I know thats a trim of a 306? but underneath are they black painted steel wheels? if so they are off another model, as they should be like the ones on the front with the protruding rim showing. The front wheels/trims are correct.
The MK1 305 had the 1.5l diesel with gears in the sump which was carried over from the 204 and 304 ranges. The XUD 1905cc went in to the MK2 model between 82-85, then 87-89. The Talbot Horizon also had the XUD9 between 82-84, although it would seem Horizon made it the UK first (all diesel Horizons were built in France not Ryton).

Wings? do they not just unbolt ?
Brakes I'd buy some overhaul kits for the calapers and strip, clean and reinstall, you should be able to get these from Peugeot, they still do my 504 ones.

The rear wheel trims are off a 306 after today though the front has my old 405 steel wheels on as the ones that where on it previously were extremely rusted so as soon as i can get another pair the 405 will stay on the rear steels were the same design as the original fronts only not as rusted so i put the original trims on the back.
The bodywork im going to leave until all the mechanical bits are done because i know that if i start the bodywork first ill end up stopping in the middle to do the mechanical bits [^]

Indeed. The Talbot Horizon was the first ever car to get the "new" 1905cc XUD diesel engine. The Citroen Visa followed very shortly thereafter with the 1769cc version.
I had 2 diesel Horizon's many years ago. One of them was my second car. They were great cars, but handled like a barge. Superbly economical, but blighted with a pathetic (45 litre) fuel tank. I managed 50k miles in a year in one of mine, and it taught me how to weld!
If anyone ever hears of a Diesel Talbot Horizon anywhere, I would love to have another.

I have a feeling it needs new wheel bearings on the back now aswell, i was driving along and i could hear what sounded like a grinding noise coming from the rear offside wheel got faster as i accelerated soo thats another thing on the list of things to do [:D]
another thing when i leave the car overnight the glovebox seems to get water in it when i drive around it dries up then as soon as i leave it it fills up ?! [}:)]

Presumably this happens even if it doesn't rain? If so, it must be condensation from somewhere.

Today was a good day she had her first coat of t-cut and polish and must say it looks a different car [:D] was a bit strapped for cash so thought t-cutting would be a cheap improvement [^]

I cant believe it ! [:(!] some yobs have smashed the near side wing mirror off both the the 305 and the 605 they are both parked off road just down the road from me [V][:(] the 605 i think i might be able to salvage but the 305 needs a whole new unit [V]

Crikey, that's a blast from the past. I remember those fan belts that went round the corner of the engine block. A mate bought a 304 petrol (I think, it was a long time ago) and the pulleys on the corner of the block were seized. The smoke was very impressive before the fan belt turned into treacle.

Water in the glove box - is the heater matrix anywhere nearby? I know of cars where the footwells get wet when the matrix leaks.

See if you can find said yobs and smash their ears off (I always think door mirrors look a bit like ears on a car, from the front). A fitting punishment for the crime?

oh im pretty sure i know who done it [}:)][;)] he drives around in what he and his yob friends think is cool whereas i think its pants with its alloys and purple neons yes purple [:0] and you see i have a nice never used bottle of brake fluid,im not sure if taking their wing mirros would satisfy my urge which has been ongoing for a while now as i think its the same group who ripped the No. plates off and keyed my old astra so come tomorow morning . . . . who knows ?? [:D][^]

Water in the glove box is a common 305 thing, I think it's the windscreen seal but I'll ask my 305 owner mate next time I see him.

Water in the glovebox will be caused by the scuttle panel beginning to rot out.It could just be that the drain hoses are blocked with leaves etc. Worth prising up the plastic finisher below the windscreen. That will expose the offending area. If it is bad will just have to patch it as best you can. welding is out of the question
for the loom and sound insulation is above the glovebox.[V]Or you could carry a big sponge![:D]Ive done it...
