Citroen never made bikes Ryan but Peugeot did ;)

I had a blue Peugeot bike in the 1970's but swapped it for a Belstaff bike jacket and gloves when I got a Casal moped. This still had pedals but only used when starting.

I see Mick's been out and about naming Strava Segments* around here

Seen on the map after I uploaded my ride to Strava this afternoon :)

* A Strava Segment is a section of road that's been christened by Strava users and then used to win, loose or defend top times and personal bests achieved along it...

For the final bit of my birthday celebrations yesterday, I raced in our Monday evening TT series along one of my favourite courses - a hilly one :)

After a quite lovely warm, sunny day and against all expectations it rained for the duration of the event and rained with some enthusiasm

You can see the rain tumbling down in this picture of me some 3 miles in

And cresting one of the bigger hills on the course...
TMKR14-1.jpg
Unusual to see me on that side of a camera lens... After my ride I did take a few from the finish lime and found my camera - how it was set up - preferentially auto-focuses on raindrops instead of the subject  More learning completed :D

Here's one of my better ones :)

Subject to timing checks and despite the weather the course record was broken. The rider averaged 26.6mph and produced some impressive average power. On this hilly course, that average speed is quite something. Getting on for 10mph faster than me

Our goal was to get under the hour for the 25 mile TT. Only two rider managed it in our club but that was on the Lincolnshire fens with no wind.
I’m talking about in the late 50’s early 60’s so assume with the much lighter bikes nowadays it should be easier, but still not easy.

Nah, despite the latest tech Maurice, it's still an aspiration rather than a reality for the majority of club TT riders... On a 25, don't use a stopwatch to time me - a calendar would be more appropriate

One of our riders last evening found time to wave to the camera :)

At a playpark on Wednesday, little one 'borrowed' a balance bike from a little boy there and rode off on it - much to his initial upset!

What's significant here is that although Autumn has a little balance bike of her own, she's not been on it for months according to her mum...

She got on this one and rode it away like a pro :D

It must be in the genes ;)

The little boy wasn't upset for long - they rapidly became besties and played together for ages whilst we grown-ups had a good old chat :D The delights of play park life

I couldn’t compete in TT’s. In those days I could do the distance runs but not if the pace was set too fast.

I gave my last bike away to a local guy who does bikes up and gives them to people who needed a bike but couldn’t afford one. My bike was about twenty years old but like new, I was surprised how good it was after a clean up (I hadn’t rode it for about eight years). I could have sold it but thought what this guy was doing made sense, it went to a lad who couldn’t get to work so filled a need.

I don't really compete in TTs - I just make up numbers... You know, like the budget no-hope team who are always on the back of the grid in an Formula 1 race...

That's good :) The best thing to do with an unused bike by far... We have a similar system here - a charity that takes unwanted bikes, does them up and sees them go to deserving recipients...

Had a little accident on the bike. Hit a ridge in the road and off I went. One buckled wheel. Ordered a spoke spanner and fixed the wheel so pleased.
Ps I'm ok

Down at my Parents' this weekend, a nice ride out to the sea yesterday. Today decided I would ride out to J37 on the M6 - a climb I have thought about a few times when we have visited. This is at the top just before the motorway, that's quite brutal level of climb - especially as it starts out the door! No warm up...

I consider 'normal' hills to be 10m / km ridden, so this is way above that!

Nah, I'm not falling for that, you had it in the car with you, driving in first gear the whole way.

My neighbour’s 66 year old son is coming over from America next week to do the London to Edinburgh bike ride. Yes, just to do that ride! I suppose America is just not big enough 🚴‍♀️
His family are coming over as support and I think the thing is well controlled.

That must be one for you Jim, I think you’d need one of these each night 🛀

Gosh, that's a heck of a ride! I'd love to and it's said to be one massive adventure and huge fun... There's no age cut-off so I may still have an opportunity to do it...
