Just two quick questions

Unread post by Modami »

Hi all.

As mentioned, three* quick questions.
VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

First one:
What is the recommended engine oil (I know only it is Total Quartz 9000 5W40) for C4 Coupe (_LA) 1.6l 16v NFU TU5JP4.
What is the oil specification? Isn't it this PSA B71 2296?

Second one:
My mechanic installed quite small battery 42Ah 400 A (EN). I wonder if Yuasa YBX5027 will fit in there? actually because the car lack electrical capacity now.

Last one:
Where can I look for alarm module in my car? BSI is original one and all the time the battery is disconnected it reverts to factory defaults and it reports F034: Absence of communication with Alarm ECU. It is not anywhere close to glovebox. I don't even know what to look for :(

Thanks in advance.

You can find out about the alarm module at: viewtopic.php?t=43882

The existing battery:
Length : 238mm
Width : 129mm
Height : 225mm

Dimensions of the Yuasa YBX5027 battery are:
Length : 243mm
Width : 175mm
Height : 190mm

So clearly the width is the main one to worry about, have you got another 46mm width available? The extra 5mm length shouldn't be a problem.

That's two questions answered, hopefully someone else will answer the oil question. :)

Thanks mickthemaverick.

I know the topic you have mentioned - generally speaking I don't know where to look anymore for that alarm module. I will just switch it to absent again.

For the battery - I don't know what was the OEN battery and the size of it.

As for oil - I was checking the table of recommended ones available on this forum and I guess the 5W40 will be good with PSA B71 2296 should be fine.

5W30 is not sufficient enough anymore. It is getting nearly black really quick. (Like after barely 5k km).

If the oil is blackening up that quickly I would suggest a good flush with an appropriate engine flush product before you replace the filter and fill with new oil. Engine flushing is a contentious subject among the mechanics I know as there is a possibilitiy of doing more harm than good. It has to be your own decision to do it or not so read up on it and make your own mind up. :) I can say that I have used both LiquiMoly and Wynn's products in the past and not encountered any issues.

I mean.. my old mechanic performed a flush without my permission and it didn't ended up well :)

I decided to do more than basic stuff on my own, to avoid having long life oil again and yea.. as I mentioned, too small battery was installed. Not to mention endless amount of damaged elements, covers and classic one in C4 Coupe - insulation not removed properly to replace cabin filter.

PS. Picture is actual compression ratio.

There is an argument that if the oil turns dark quickly then it is actually doing its job. Removing deposits in the engine and then holding it in suspension until the next oil change. I suppose that flushing oil does the same job in that respect albeit with less journal protection.
