Hi not much of a mechanic just looking for advice
. Bought a grand picasso last week which has twice had white smoke coming from the engine bay. I think it's coming from the exhaust and then me reversing over it when parking. Does this sound like a blocked faulty dpf ?
Also I've just noticed the pipe snapped on top of the engine in the attached pic. Anyone know what that's for ???
Pardon my ignorance
Cheers

That looks to me like the cap of a sensor, maybe the air intake temperature sensor. If that is the case the white smoke may be a result of it. Someone who knows the engine better will hopefully come and clarify it for you.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Cheers I don't know much about cars but I'm pretty sure all the pipes are meant to be attached !

Re: Snapped pipe and white smoke...
That little pipe should connect to a mating spigot on the airbix. It's a bizarre little connector that defies logic and often ends up damaged in trying to disconnect it when swapping the air filter element. I can't now but if need be, i can pop up some pictures of where it goes.
If left disconnected it may upset engine running.
For the white smoke I'd advise a full diagnostics session. This can often save lots of guesswork.

It does indeed go onto the airbox. When I drove the 308 with it disconnected it threw up a MIL on the dashboard but wouldn't cause the white smoke I think.
These two threads cover the subject, the first for when I broke the damn spigot on the airbox.

Cheers it looks like it's fully snapped off. Sorry to sound stupid but what would that actually do what is it's purpose ? I've booked in a garage next Wednesday anyway so hopefully then can reattach it..

You can see where it's snapped off from on your original photograph.

Re: Snapped pipe and white smoke...
The pipe is only the vent from the turbo solenoid, I would just block the hole in the air box (to prevent EML from it sucking unmetered air) and leave the pipe loose.
White smoke quite likely to be excess ad blue - does it smell of ammonia?
