Brick as in "Software loading on demand ... WARNING: System has limited functionality"?

You can either try to reinstall that firmware version, using another USB flash drive or, depending on the system state, just insert a USB flash drive with the MAP update - you'll see a screen to confirm the installation of the map, just say no, and hopefully your system will be fine.
Yes "Software loading on demand ... WARNING: System has limited functionality".

I tried 2 different sticks. Start updating then around halfway crash and say error please remove USB stick

Hi, I also have a same problem updating software and maps on my Peugeot 508 2019. I saw on MyPeugeot app that there is software update (attached) but no maps update (installed maps are 2018) not sure why is it that I don't have Navigation Services subscription or something else, do I have pay subscription or can I install them manually?

I entered my VIN number in Peugeot Update on Windows and it created USB for update, but when I insert USB I also get errors
"No content on the USB drive" & "Version incompatible with the hardware."

I read here that its certificate issue, how can I solve it?

My VIN is VR3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

What Wave is my Infotainment and what version should I install?

Numero VIN : VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
NAC r0 : PSA 98167274XY HW:03

Muchas gracias y saludos.

Hello everyone!!!
I have a 2017 citroen grand c4 with screen failure with message "software loading on demand" after update downloaded from citroen update app.
I have tried with 3 different usb, rebooted BSI and nothing, the update starts but when you get almost to the end jumps message "update failure" and remove the usb, after which it restarts and returns message "software loading on demand".
I don't know if it has a solution or it's eMMC corruption.
VIN Number : VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
NAC r0 : PSA 98167274XY HW:03

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hello!
I have a rifter 2019 130 bluehdi eat8. It has NAC wave 3. recently peugeot update showed available update to wave 4 version 42.03.33.42_NAC-r0. It was not possible to install this update, probably due to expired certificate.
when I checked version compatibility here: https://sites.google.com/view/nac-rcc/system?authuser=0 I got answer that my current NAC version is wave 3.
but when I checked for available updates today, peugeot update did not offer me any available updates for multimedia, but instead maps version 17 became available (did not try to update yet, but I think it will not suceed). when I checked again here: https://sites.google.com/view/nac-rcc/system?authuser=0 it suggested that my car has already wave 4 installed which is not true. (I know i for sure, because I checked my actual multimedia version directly on the car´s touchscreen)

Does anybody have any news or thoughts what is going on and if we are going to get a working update to wave 4 someday?

UPDATE just tried to install maps version 17 on a wave 3 version multimedia using official peugeot update app. usb was recognised and process started but after a few moments I got "update fail" or smth like that message.

Looks like PSA finally noticed, that their update isn´t working due to outdated certificate and just ticked all cars to be wave4 versions to stop this non working update to come up and generate many service requests. automatically maps version 17 became available, but it is not comatible with wave 3. Maybe this situation gives us all hope and show signs that PSA is working on firmware upgrade fix?

@dimonito: The page at https://sites.google.com/view/nac-rcc/ uses the same method to identify the infotainment system as the MyPeugeot app or the "Peugeot Update" (*) software - it queries the PSA Majestic server. Apparently, all NAC*WAVE3 systems are now identified as NAC_EUR_WAVE4, including the NAC_CN_WAVE3 used in China. This obviously doesn't work as they expected...
The ONLY fix is simple: they need to release new update files (or the same versions), but signed with valid certificates.

(*) - Or any of the MyCitroën/Citroën Update, MyDS/DS Update, MyOpel/Opel Update or MyVauxhall/Vauxhall Update.

Thank you Rui for sharing information, I read a lot of your post during past few months in attempts to get latest OS and maps to my rifter. But I would ask again for your opinion - what if I disconnect NAC from everything but power source and make it forget current date and then try to update with freshly created USB using peugeot update app?

and one more question regarding hardware - today I discovered turbo (115 000 km, 130 bluehdi, garrett) on my rifter to whistle and throw oil. Looks like too early? What could be the reason?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Dmitri

Hello Rui,

About a month ago, I checked my infotainment system via VIN using the following link: https://sites.google.com/view/nac-rcc. At that time, it clearly indicated that my system was NAC Wave 3. However, when I checked again today using the same VIN (VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]), it now shows as NAV Wave 4.

I also attempted to update both the firmware and maps, but as usual, I encountered the well-known error: "Version not compatible with hardware."

Interestingly, the Citroën Update app now only offers an update for the cartography (version 17.0.0-r0)—the firmware update, which used to be available, is no longer listed. I downloaded the map update and checked the certificates, and it looks like they’ve been fixed: they are now valid until November 8, 2026. The next step is to try the map update to see if it will work.

Code: Select all

openssl smime -in MediaVersion.ini -pk7out | openssl pkcs7 -print_certs -text -noout
.
.
.
        Validity
            Not Before: Nov 8 18:27:06 2023 GMT
            Not After : Nov 8 18:27:06 2026 GMT

A few days ago, when I entered the VIN number, it identified my system as NAC WAVE 3. Now it shows as NAC WAVE 4. Is it even possible to install this update?
