So 50 hours later, our 1.2 Puretech is back in one piece. A few tips I felt the need the share.
The job was changing the valve seals shortly after Citroen changed the belt for free on a recall.
(1) You have to remove a lot of bits, so get lots of plastic trays etc to lay everything out in order.
(2) There are a lot of 8mm screws to undo, so have a few different sockets handy.
(3) I used a compressor kit that you use without removing the head. Just make sure you have the cylinder you are working on at TDC and the valve will only drop a cm or so. There are so many screws that you shouldn't have trouble finding a place to fix the frame for the compressor.
(4) Important - either be very careful or get a spare 9816171280 which is the tiny valve collet. They are very tricky to find if they spring of into the garden. By the time you get to number 12, you might be tired and let the spring slip before you grab the collet.
(5) Check you are at TDC on the cylinder you are working on....each time...
(6) Take every precaution you can marking the timing belt. I put mine one notch off. The variable valve timing will let the engine run, but will alarm to tell you you have been a numpty.
Took me 3 hours, but only after 3 repeats as I made silly mistakes. First go took 6 hours.

Re: Changing valve stem seals on Puretech 1.2 tips
Thanks for sharing,what is the mileage of the car?
I have a 3008 1.2 57000 and drinks about 800ml oil \1k miles
My mechanic said theoretically it shouldn'tbe at this mileage the valve stem seals already gone.compression test was fine,all 3 cylinders had the same compression.

Re: Changing valve stem seals on Puretech 1.2 tips
Hi, I have a 2008 1.2 puretech. Can you tell me which valve spring compressor you used so that I cam change the valve seals without taking the cylinder head off? Do you have a name for it, or where did you get it from? There are so many different ones?? Did you just put the piston at tdc? Did you use compressed air? Or the rope method? Or didn't you need to do that??
Thanks,
Baz.
Thanks,
Baz.

Re: Changing valve stem seals on Puretech 1.2 tips
Hi guys,
I guy called Antoine has put a load of gret info on the puretech engine here!
https://www.nomaallim.com/eb2-engine.html
Also there is a nice guy called Ronke on yotube who changes the piston rings with the engine still in the car!
Now, you have to admit thats impressive!
Thanks,
Baz.

Re: Changing valve stem seals on Puretech 1.2 tips
Hi guys, any help appreciated!
I changed the valve seals but as i had no compressor i used 'the rope method'. (There is a great tool by Neilsen that makes removing the valve keepers easy! Neilsen Valve Keeper Remover & Installer Kit CT5756 about £30, well worth it! Ebay uk. ) Anyway, all went well but now there seems to be no compression and the clearances at the camshaft to valve/caps is shot to sh#t! I have read that all the valve seals are the same spec, I used FAI kit of seals from the Gasket Head Set HS2302. Maybe that was my mistake? Anyway i have just ordered genuine Peugeot valve seals so hopefully that will sort the problem. But...... I have also read 1. that some puretech 1.2 use hydraulic tappets so you do not need to adjust or check them? 2. Because the puretech 1.2 uses valve dephasers you do not need to adjust them either? The Haynes manual states you check the first clearances in the engine locked position. This is the position where i have no gap/clearance at all now but the Haynes is using a slightly different engine i think? My engine is an EB2FA HMR so i am in a bit of a muddle as to what to do next.
Any ideas guys??
Thanks
Baz.

Re: Changing valve stem seals on Puretech 1.2 tips
1. Compatible with Puretech 1.2 nozzle stem oil seals, precisely matching original factory specifications with strict dimensional tolerance control;
2. Clean the valve stem/oil seal groove before installation, apply special grease to the oil seal lip, and press it into place, ensuring no misalignment;
3. Ensures sealing performance, preventing fuel and vacuum leaks. Suitable for various machine models and operating conditions, requiring no additional adjustments after installation.
